Have you ever taken this shot?

Sooner or later I think we all take this shot. You stand around waiting for a train to come by and you just have to photograph SOMETHING!
The former Santa Fe line looking east towards Abo canyon and Mountainaire,NM

Good one Rich - yes, I have taken many a shot like that waiting for a train to show up. And once took a drive specifically to take a shot of the abandoned rail line in Sabattis (Adirondack Mountains). There is talk about tearing up the line to make it a hiking trail. I got out of the car to take a couple quick shots in both directions and almost got eaten alive by mosquitos- made me wonder who would want to hike there.

Yep, but still evocative for those of us who enjoy waiting for trains (kinda like fishing...sometimes it's the experience of being there, even if you don't bag a big one). I'm curious about the date of the photo, though, because I thought that line was all double tracked by now. Cheers!

That was in '90 or '91. You are correct, it is now double tracked.
