waegwan is right--lots of accessories lots of GAS! But, they are tools as well and I am of the opinion that the video opportunity on DLSRs are going to inspire and create a new generation of filmmakers, which we will all benefit from their creativity.

I live in Norway but think you had someone else in mind. But I have alredy given my advice. There are not much choices to get off the beaten track here for people on a cruise. Best to grab the opportunities that arise within walking distance from each harbor.

JPL-speaking of "get off the beaten track," what advice do you have for a tourist who won't be on a cruise? What is the best transportation in between towns, is renting a car feasible?

I would use PhotoShop, masking out people shot and using the images they want you to use as a background mask, probably 'blurring' the background image some in PS. This way you would have total control while controlling the adjustments in post, not sweating it at the last minute on location. I just think it will be hard to get a decent balance between strobe/people shots and a projected background image. Godd luck regardless what you end up doing.

Regardless of your camera club, (commendable efforts on your part, BTW), your town seems vibrant. I enjoyed looking at the weekly activities on the website. I hope to personally visit the exact area this summer or fall. My ancestors, I am finding, are from Buckinghamshire County.

Wouldn't the appropriate forum be 'eBay?' It seems it gets a little sticky whenever anyone asks …"accepting offers…"

Accepting offers for this lens in brand new, mint condition. It's a collector's item.

Perhaps you saw a story in Pop Photo about one for sale for $49K (attached). There's one on eBay in very poor condition for about $6,350. It's a remarkable lens and evidently very few were made. It's not for use with DSLRs since it requires the mirror up and can damage the sensor. A couple of articles about the lens are attached.

The lens is in the Boston area. I do not have the original case.

That is one of many considerations we will have to make. The PR Committee I am on, exploring these option, will have to arrive at a consensus to work with in the future.

If there is anyone else who has experiences in this realm--events attended by the public--please feel free to pass on your thoughts and experiences. Sometimes you almost feel it isn't worth the trouble to document history. Thanks anyway for all the input.

I can imagine this has been covered extensively in the past-BUT-in regards to 'changing times' maybe some new members, (and possibly lawyers/legal expertise) might shed some new light on this topic.

Specifically, a community organization, (affiliated with a state university) I belong to is getting conflicting messages from within. Some say "Absolutely no pictures of minors at any of our community/public events without parental approval/signed consent." Couldn't the same apply to adults? In other words-why bother to take pictures to promote our organization (Extension Master Gardeners) that show masses of people-which we want to do to 'validate' our mission of reaching/teaching to the masses?

Excellent work Jerry! I, too, have thought about ways to recycle old cameras. Someone gave me a box full of cheap/old '35's that he couldn't muster the courage to pitch in the dumpster. I've toyed with the thought of making bookends, adding weight somehow but they're all still gathering dust.

Worked nearby to McConnell AFB in Wichita where they were stationed in the 90's. They would set off all the car alarms in the parking lot whenever they took off in a tactical mode.

I remember when Joel Satore was a staff photographer for the Wichita Eagle. We were blessed to see his pictures on a daily basis. I could tell he was headed for greatness, he had a passion for shooting unique weather shots.

There are many other very good photographers out there, working at local newspapers. I encourage everyone to simply email them compliments whenever they exceed on a composition. I know you can't take that to the bank, but it helps feed the soul.

Also, I've heard, but not yet tried, that you can improvise a 'tripod' in hotel rooms-lamp bases! disconnect from wall outlet, unscrew bulb(s), and take the lampshades off. This exposes a 1/4 inch screw that you can mount your camera on top. I imagine it would be a bit of inconvenience--not having tripod head--but you could pack a cheap/small ball head in your gadget bag. I intend to.

Some time ago I bought a Quantum Battery 2 power pack cheap (because it wasn't working). I thought I'd take a chance and replace the sealed lead-acid rechargeable batteries. I did and they work, but charger connection apparently isn't. When I connect the QB28 (charger cord) charge light doesn't come on and left charging overnight does't make a difference so I know it's nothing simple like the led light not working.

Has anyone had any experience with this problem? I could send in to Quantum for repair but checking if maybe something I could attempt myself, like cleaning contacts,I can't see any loose wires or bad solders. Thanks for any suggestions.

What i've learned with starting house PhotoShop is you almost need to work with it daily at first to get familiar with the workflow.

I've also found going to YouTube and typing in the specific task you are trying to do. Caveat here, however, is pay attention to the version that's being used. Advantage is you can play over and over until you fully understand.

My appreciation for everyone on UHH, YouTube, and others, who share their experiences and expertise.
