Which would you choose?

I remember when an slr camera was used to shoot only still images. Now, with today's dslr, it is possible to also shoot video. If you could choose; would you prefer a camera that on shoots single shots or one that does both?

You're buying a new car, but it comes with a/c. Do you say no?
- Why would you want less than what they will give you?

I don't care for video on a camera, that is what a camcorder
is for.

There's very little reason to not buy a DSLR that has video capability even if you don't plan to use it. It does come in handy sometimes and the quality is very good with an external mic.

However, there are some limits if your primary requirement is video.

Both, and it wouldn't be a DSLR either. Micro Four Thirds.

I have never used a DSLR to shoot video. My Nikon Df does not have a video function.

I recently bought a Nikon 7100, and its video capabilities weren't a reason I bought it. But as long as I have it, I may try playing around with the video just for fun.

I have never used a DSLR for video, but it doesn't hurt to have the capability. It might improve resale value. Never turn down free additions. Bab

I have never used the video capability on my 800E; and certainly don't miss it on my Df.

I never thought I would ever use the video feature of my dslrs either. But my son is a professional musician and I have created excellent videos of a number of concerts, recitals and gigs over the last several years. I use an external Rode Stereo Mic Pro microphone. While my cinematography skills are far from professional, the end result is still high resolution video with great sound. An unplanned for and unexpected benefit that I am very glad I have. I don't take more than 5 or 6 videos a year, but its nice to have the capability when I want/need it.

My Nikon Df doesn't have video and I believed I had to pay more because of that.

I've never shot video with any camera, but it's nice to have just in case I decide to.
