I like the drama the pov produces Don, and the colours. I do try to vary pov when shooting but don’t feel I have much success for one reason or another. Seeing your result, I’ll have another go when I’m out for a ramble. I am a great believer in your signature quote ‘gather ye pixels……’. They can come in useful quite unexpectedly!
Can’t say I’m overkeen on the composition - I’d shove everything on the left up to the right and bunch stuff a bit more. I do like the subject matter and processing, which compliment each other very nicely. Have a continuous tumble of fruit from the bag and jam everything up to it and it will be a winner.
I find his work attractive. It is interesting to read the ‘critique’ too - as with all forums some is just nasty tripe, some is biased toward ‘in-camera’ results and some is from the ‘anything goes’ processing brigade. Then a fight breaks out. That is all so typical, I wonder why folk cannot simply accept that we each have our preferences and there’s no law that says we must please everybody, even some of the time! I do find some of the images a little ‘old hat’ but they are beautifully done. He’s a craftsman.
That lady is being strangled by her hat strap! Some serious Ps jiggery-pokery Frank, and you’ll have her embroidering as she should be! It’s a lovely setting - the oil lamp is just right for it. You could clone out those white plastic things below the candle sticks? Set-to and you’ll have next years Christmas card sorted.
Have you been trimming your beard over the scanner again l-fox? It gives an interesting effect - Topaz on steroids! All makes a pleasing image with lovely colours.
Love it!!! Mood, atmosphere, drama...this image has it all!
Thank you Veronica, pleased you’ve been able to ‘get into’ it. The poem of the same title, also about WW1 is worth a read - and still, unfortunately, has relevance.
