Is it new or used? This lens is selling new on BH for $599.00.
It is roughly 1/2 the weight of the 2.8 lens and much smaller. If you hike a lot this is a significant difference.
Landscape photographers don't usually need a fast lens like the 2.8 version.
Go to BH and select both the f4 and f2.8 and check the "compare" boxes. Then you can do a side by side comparison.

Stolen

Just what I would need. Send it in for service and have the Police at my door.

Even if I inspect it and it works perfectly, Probably better to keep looking.

I believe your Nikon D700 in P mode you can change shutter speed/aperture combination using Program shift.
You can change the exposure with the dial using easy exposure compensation feature.

Yes, this appears to be the case.

In computer tech support, this would qualify as a problem between the chair and the keyboard.

The Latin term would be ---> MANUALUS NON READUS

Another thumbs up for Ravpower. I have four and they have been excellent.

I have scratched RavPower off my list. I had contacted RavPower customer service about buy a battery. They told me they WILL NOT sell me just one battery. I MUST buy 2 batteries and a charger. Was told I MUST only use the RavPower charger as the Canon OEM charger will damage the battery thus voiding the warranty. Wasabi will sell me a package deal or I can buy individually and Wasabi told also me their battery WILL charge in the Canon OEM charger. Watson also told me the same thing.

After doing research for over a week on all the popular 3rd party batteries, reading both customer and blog reviews I have come to a decision. While many people have praised 3rd party batteries there are too many horror stories of 3rd party batteries dying, swelling and destroying camera electronics for my comfort zone. I will me buying an QEM Canon battery from B&H and paying the $63. Risking a $1000 camera to save $30 does not make good sense.

See page 190 of your (english) instruction manual, specifically program shift.

Program Shift is a new one for me. My old D700 allegedly had a Program Flex mode which I never used.

Thanks for the info, thought my camera was malfunctioning.

I am finding Canon has things Nikon doesn't and things Nikon has act differently on a Canon.

Time to READ the manual ...........

This is my first Canon camera and it is making me crazy. Does not act like I expect it to
or maybe I just do not understand this Canon.

In Tv mode I can set the shutter speed and camera sets aperture

In Av mode I can set aperture and the camera sets shutter speed

In M mode I can set both shutter speed and aperture

Now in P mode it is suppose to set both shutter speed and aperture.
But I can turn top dial and change aperture and the lower dial changes compensation + or -

Is this normal? From what I remember, my Nikon D700 controlled everything in P mode.

I've got two Wasabi batteries and they're pretty bad although they are far cheaper cheaper than than the OEM battery. The OEM battery is better the Wasabi not that great either and it's expensive. Bottom line battery science has a ways to go

From what I have read, some get excellent service from Wasabi and others not so much. However this seems to be true no matter what brand you choose. Appears to be a crap shoot with some brands having more issues than others. The Wasabi LP-E6 battery is $10.99 so I guess I will give it a shot. Risk is minimal. Has to be better than my 3 year old failing Canon battery which only gives me about 100 shots per charge. If I get burned, I am only out $10.99 and will stick with OEM Canon. Of all the 3rd party batteries I have investigated, Wasabi seems to have the least amount of reported issues and is recommended most by reviewers. We shall see .........

Just had the two Wasabi batteries and charger arrive last Saturday for my Nikon D300. Took a charge and one is in the camera right now. No difference with Nikon En-El3e which also charged on Wasabi charger. Less than $20 and has an in car charger adapter, too.

The proof will be in how long they last ..........
