Great collection of pics.
Whoever took them knew both composition and exposure.

A lot has to do with your budget as far as choosing a DSLR and lenses. The rest is what you want to shoot.

Some L lenses lose the AF when used with an extender.
Just another point to ponder.

EF and EFS lenses will fit on newer bodies.
EFS lenses will not fit on my D60 which is a couple of generations older than your 10D.

My adult photography class starts a week from next Wed. I"m looking for some ideas on weekly assignments. I want to teach shutter, aperture, and ISO along with topics such as Rule of Thirds, Finding the S curves in a photo, finding patterns etc. Does anyone have some good ideas for assignments?? thanks in advance

How to shoot in manual!!!!

I agree. I learned to shoot manually and never went back. Best thing I've done. I also shoot RAW for the best detail.

My wife has an older Rebel which takes fantastic pics with the right lens. I have a 50D with a few good lenses and her Rebel with my lenses have the same quality shots.

Bottom line ..... It's about the lenses.

The switch is there for faster focusing when your subject is more than 3m away. When set for 3m to infinity the lens will not focus on a subject closer than 3m. You have to set it for 1.5m to infinity to focus on something between 1.5m and 3m.

I agree with all of you.
The world is getting too "Politically Correct" so as not to upset others, that they are missing what life is really about.

Sign up for training at your nearest Apple Store.
I use Aperture and I learned a lot on how it works from them.

Try closing your aperture a bit to extend your depth of field.

Not bad for handheld.
I got this on a tripod.

I mostly shoot manual.
My Canon only chooses ISO in Auto mode.
I try to keep my ISO at 200 which is the native setting for Canon.
I'm not familiar with Nikon, but I feel that if you can keep it low you will cut the noise and get much sharper shots and still keep your shutter fast.

Your ISO is too high. It's causing a lot of noise.
Try taking it down to 200.
