Hi everyone,

Just wanted to share some images of an Orb Weaver spider that I captured here in Florida. Please keep in mind that I am just an amateur and using Picassa for editing.

I've found that I really enjoy macro photography. Bummer is that I had to part with all of my equipment a year or so ago to fund the purchase of a vehicle. Been steadily replacing some of my equipment though but still need to get a macro lens as it is the one that I miss the most. I think that every kit should have one?

If I remember correctly, one of these two photos, the one with the fly in it, was captured with a Sigma 105mm 2.8 and the others with a Nikkor 18-55mm lens (lense). I have some others spider images saved somewhere but can't seem to locate them. If I find them, I'll post some more for those that can appreciate spiders as I do. Florida is home to some awesome spiders. I once saw a spider that was as big as a turkey platter. I know....hard to believe but true!

Anyways....I hope that you like the pics. and thanks for looking. cameraniac

Very sharp images. It seems you are a Sigma 105mm macro OS fan. I'm shopping around for one now!

Thank you. The image was taken with a non-OS lens but the camera was tripod mounted.

Happy imaging-cameraniac

Here's a couple of images captured with the Sigma 105mm. Not positive about the second one though. It might have been shot with the Nikon 18-55 (Hundred dollar lens!).

Alas, my memory is excellent, but the retrieval system isn't. I believe LR4 requires 64bit Windows, whereas LR3 works with 32bit Windows. Assuming my memory is correct, make sure your system is operating with 64bit, if you want to use LR4. :)

When I downloaded LR4, I seem to remember having to choose between 32 and 64bit. I'm running 32bit and did not have any problems downloading.

He says that he has the receipts. I don't see the problem?

If you decide against it, please send me the sellers contact info.

Hate to burst your bubble sir but you are WRONG!!!

Despite that fact that you might find it in an obscure dictionary somewhere it is still the wrong way to spell it and just because you find it somewhere does not make it correct, nor acceptable.

Since you wanted to be so precise I ask you to read this please: A lens is an optical device with perfect or approximate axial symmetry which transmits and refracts light, converging or diverging the beam. A simple lens consists of a single optical element. A compound lens is an array of simple lenses (elements) with a common axis; the use of multiple elements allows more optical aberrations to be corrected than is possible with a single element.

Lenses are typically made of glass or transparent plastic. Elements which refract electromagnetic radiation outside the visual spectrum are also called lenses: for instance, a microwave lens can be made from paraffin wax.

The variant spelling "lense" is sometimes seen. While it is listed as an alternative spelling in some dictionaries, most mainstream dictionaries do not list it as acceptable, nor as a correct way to spell the word "lens". I rest my case.

I stand by my first statement. It is perfectly acceptable to spell it "lense". Sorry to burst your bubble. Now let's drop it and get back to photography. I only respondeed because someone wanted to correct the poster's spelling instead of answer the question. How petty of that person and of you!

When I was watching them here in Florida, I noticed that they were coming from all directions? I was surprised because I was expecting them to come from only one general direction. These were showing up within minutes of each other. No pictures to prove it though.....

If you ever want to sell or upgrade, you get more "with original box" If you really want to get rid of them, I've seen people sell them on ebay. Better than just tossing them out.
