wow did this thread get hijacked! I have the gripper and I use it all the time. Does a good job of holding the work piece as you feed it through the saw. I use min on my router table as well. Sure wood blocks and push sticks work but I feel I have better lateral control with the gripper.

excellent photo. Loved Bergen where we boarded the Viking Sun for our cruise of your beautiful fjords.

Great photo. Shows the immensity of the mountains coming right down to the sea. Which fjord is this? I posted one of Geiranger fjord a few weeks ago and then saw others of the same fjord that had been posted in previous years. I used the search function with the fjord name. It was a magnificent voyage, one I would love to repeat.

Third! But the 77D or even T7i are pretty good, too. I still haven't "outgrown" my T2i, although the 80D makes life easier and can, in a very few instances, get a shot the T2i can't.

yes, the 77D is another good choice!

Back from our cruise of coastal Norway. This is Geiranger fjord from the mountain behind it. Our ship, the Viking Sun is on the left. It was an outstanding cruise on an outstanding ship. Weather was poor for a lot of the trip but that happens in Arctic Norway.

I second this recommendation for the Canon 80D. It will take you quite a while to outgrow the camera.

I was just in Bergen two weeks ago. We boarded the Viking Sun there. I wanted to get a shot of the training ship but it left port before I could get a shot. Were you on the Viking Sun for the "Into the Midnight Sun" cruise? I took over 1600 photos and am in the process of culling them before post processing. Bergen was nice and the rest of the trip for us was fabulous. I can't wait to work on my photos from Geiranger fjord, I was up early for the float in to port. Great photos, I hope mine are half as good.

I agree. Everyone has wanted something at sometime that wasn't theirs. Finding that something that tempts one is called being human. It is what happens after that temptation that always determines what kind of person you are. I am sure that although the OP will always love to have the equipment, and may even look lovingly at it each time as they pass by, the OP has way too much integrity to act on those "wants" the wrong way.

I worked as a police officer. We would ask applicants if they ever lied or stolen something. If they said "no" we would look very carefully at their background since the vast majority of people have both lied and stolen something at some time in their lives. As simple as like; "No mom, I didn't eat that last cookie." or "He started it!" We all have feet of clay, the last perfect person was hung on a cross. As a police officer we frequently had access to ill-gotten gains and we would talk about the temptation and dismiss them simply because it was the right thing to do.

You are human. sometimes resisting temptation is trivial, like the second helping of mashed potatoes, other times it is like the situation you encountered. What you do even when nobody is around to see it may be more important than your public persona. So why not ask them if you can use the equipment to take photos for them. Sounds like you might produce better photos than they have been.

Old style London metro taxicab. The kind with the luggage area next to the driver. There is a whole interest group dedicated to the restoration of such cabs and they would find you a pristine example for photos.

I have the 6DII and was one of the first to get it. I love it. I like the articulated touch screen and use it in live view much more than I thought I would. I put a Peak Designs wrist strap on it and it makes long days with camera in hand quite tolerable. Another feature on the camera is the ability to control it from my smart phone -- a free phone app. I have used this a number of times to operate the camera remotely and to isolate it from any shutter pushing vibration. It will take a long time, if ever, to outgrow it. All that said, do look at the mirrorless model and make your choice. If that choice is the 6DII then I predict you will be quite happy with it.

Working at a property out in the country we discovered this sunset landscape. I ran for my camera as we were losing light by the second. This was an in camera HDR shot and handheld as I didn't have the time to set up my tripod. I braced my elbows on the rail of a trailer to get some stability. It was fairly cold but there was no wind whatsoever. I liked how the tree reflections were stark while the trees themselves were nearly invisible. I could have done better had I actually planned the shot but I think for a snapshot it came out reasonably well. The discoloration on the pond are cloud reflections. Minimal PP in LR as I wanted to keep the mood somewhat brooding and dark.
