Twilight Pond

Working at a property out in the country we discovered this sunset landscape. I ran for my camera as we were losing light by the second. This was an in camera HDR shot and handheld as I didn't have the time to set up my tripod. I braced my elbows on the rail of a trailer to get some stability. It was fairly cold but there was no wind whatsoever. I liked how the tree reflections were stark while the trees themselves were nearly invisible. I could have done better had I actually planned the shot but I think for a snapshot it came out reasonably well. The discoloration on the pond are cloud reflections. Minimal PP in LR as I wanted to keep the mood somewhat brooding and dark.

Striking capture! I think the prominence of the tree reflections in the pond makes this shot.

As I scrolled down the page, I found I liked the image best without the bright orange sky and some of the foreground. That aspect and removal of bright color makes this all about the reflections and fence line. Outstanding!

That's a great shot.

It would be interesting if you could go back and try for some Astral shots. The clouds and stars reflected in the water should be phenomenal with the tree reflections.
