This gallery consists of images from a vacation last year. I was motivated to put them up to complement a comment I posted elsewhere regarding the Nubble lighthouse. In part, that comment said:

...Boon Island lighthouse which is eight miles out to sea. It is the tallest lighthouse in Maine and it is possible to photograph it with a long lens, at least at dusk.

But you say you will be there on Thursday and I might mention some other sights in the area. Do visit the Ogunquit Museum of American Art and walk the grounds (with your camera) even if the museum itself is closed. A very easy walk in Ogunquit is across the bridge on Bridge Street and turn right on River Rd. Watch for birds but also take note of the sand islands in the river. If you are up to an easy hike, take your camera out on Marginal Way in Ogunquit. A bit more challenging, but still a fairly easy hike is along the Cliff Walk in York.

My favorite is the 8th down from the top. Good composition here.

Some areas of Montana get a lot more snow than others. This is a pano I made from a couple of shacks on the road to Helena, MT.

Yes indeed - an excellent shot.

The Bushnell Farm, in Old Saybrook, CT, dates back to 1678. Very well kept and rarely open to the public (privately owned). I was driving by a couple of days ago and the gate was open. I drove in and the owner, who lives on an adjacent property, was walking his dog. He made a beeline toward me and I thought he was going to tell me to leave, but when he saw the camera his demeanor seamed to change and he welcomed me to go anywhere on the farm to take photos. Unfortunately, the buildings were closed, but it was still a good photo op.

These old Fordson tractors are sort of a rare item but there is one on a farm close by at Bartlett Farm in Salisbury, MA.

This is such a cool lens. You may be able to find it for less on ebay, but you can also find it for a lot more. Bought this back in the 90s pre-owned by a guy who never used it, and I always had fun with it. The bellows and lens were orignally sold separately, but I bought them together and don't have the box or manual for the lens itself.

Still works perfectly and looks great. Manual focus and exposure only. Funny thing is, it works great with newer mirrorless Z cameras with the FTZ adaptor, because as you adjust the aperture, you see the exposure in your viewfinder.

I REALLY HATE to let it go, but it deserves a better home where it will be used. I'm selling all my Nikon gear, so it needs to go.

The tilt/shift only work on one orientation at a time, but you can rotate the lens mount, and tilt your tripod head ninety degrees, and get tilt/shift on either plane, with the camera in either vertical or horizontal position.

Five hundred bucks gets you the bellows the lens, the original box, and the manual. I'll cover Paypal fees and USPS priority shipping.

Once, on my way home from work, I came up behind a car that was swerving back and forth across several lanes. My first thought was that there was something wrong; that the driver must have been ill. I was on my sport bike and thought the best thing to do would be to get along side the driver and see if I could yell at them to"wake" them and help get them pulled over. Luckily, there wasn't much traffic so I pulled along side and what do I see but the stupid woman texting.

I was livid and let loose with what I felt she deserved to hear in words and phrases that would send this post to the attic. She could have killed someone especially since this took place in front of an elementary school.

People are becoming too dependent and addicted to their devices. Insane!!

I am close to 80 and so I don't have a lot of tolerance for this sort of stuff. I fear it will just get worse.

Crazy!! Anyone that needs to spend so much time on their devices that they can't put them away while they are in route to a destination have problems that need addressing.

I totally agree. I saw one moron on his bicycle run into a utility pole while looking at his cell phone. Such a jerk !

In virtually every recent version of photoshop there are options for converting color to b & w. These options/filters mimic what b & w filters do. Plus there are red, yellow, green, cyan, blue & magenta sliders which you can also use. Usually the yellow and red sliders have the most impact on a b/w conversion.

Since the horse has a lot of red in it and the sky and mountains are mostly blue, you could have made the horse a little lighter and the background a little darker. This would have set the horse apart from the background a little more. Having said all this, your personal interpretation of the conversion is what counts most -- not necessarily some guy who you don't know, passing on technical information which may or may not be useful.

Same here - I was on the USS Hector (AR-7),a repair ship back in 1970-71. It was eventually sold as scrap metal to India.

These are from December last year. It was an extremely foggy day, and I decided to go out and drive around and see what I could find to photograph. This is the first set of photos from that day.

For me it is a real tough call to pick a favorite but I am leaning toward the 4th image from the top in B&W if I had to choose.

Tedge, yes - that Tamron 150-600 is a beast to handhold. I did it once but won't do it again.
