Interesting result, Cindy. To me, the B&W versions give the animals more "strength," if this is an appropriate term.

Like them both ways. Enjoy B&W just for its simple elegance.

I'm 50/50 on the horse... I reckon there's a place for the colour and the mono;
the elk however looks better to my eye in mono.

I like them both in black and white. ghbowser used the right word, “elegance”.

First of all, nicely done.

I think it's all about the message. Since the digital era is all about color IMHO if you are documenting an animal in it's natural habitat doing animal things color it the correct medium. If on the other hand you are trying to express an idea, a look, a feeling often times B&W is the medium. In this case the B&W of the horse looks like something I would have taken as a kid with my Brownie. In the case of the Elk he doesn't need color for anyone to realize he is a magnificent animal. I think he is even more impressive in B&W because nothing else in the frame even competes with his dominance.

Nice b&w conversions, Cindy.
But I prefer the color for both - great shots!

I like the horse image in color and the elk in black and white. Nothing to change in either case.
