Once upon a time, there was one "miniature format": 135 film. The
camera frame was 36 mm x 24 mm (with a few early ones 1 mm smaller).

Not quite. Don't you remember half frame cameras, 110 film and cameras as well as APS film and cameras?

Verizon Fios and Comcast Xfinity are good examples. They could just say Verizon fiber optic and Comcast cable but that's too drab.

And just to confuse things even more, lots of that Comcast "cable" is actually fiber optic cable.

What I like about it is that it is a one time payment and you own it.

While updates to On1 are gratis, they seem to have new versions pretty frequently. First I bought Photo Raw 2017, then 2018 came out, then 2018.5, and now 2019 is early enough that there is almost certainly going to be a 2019.5. And each new version seems to be in the $59 to $79 range to upgrade. I like the product, but find myself willingly skipping versions like I did with LR until I went with their subscription which added PS to my toolbox.

Yes! The color contrasts and the water make this much more interesting than leaves on grass or dirt. Thanks for sharing.

Good point, thanks. Don't some raw editors have camera-specific profiles?

Yes, absolutely, many times multiple profiles. Some try to replicate the jpg image settings of the specific camera body, for example, Portrait, Landscape, etc.

I look at it the other way. The raw is the faithful shot, the jpg processed.

We must remember that raw files are not images and also have to be processed through a raw converter. Each raw converter can produce an image file that is different from any other raw conversion. So to say that the raw is the faithful shot is not quite right. Yes, the raw file is the original data, but it is interpreted differently by the specific raw converter used as compared to the one in the camera that produced the jpg image.

Only take a point and shoot camera. Don’t think you can do better than the pros that live there. Also, you are time restricted and can’t in any way compete with someone who has the luxury of being in one location for a week or more.

I don't think that most of us who travel are trying to "compete" with anyone. Rather, we just want to get the quality of images that we are used to with our own equipment. If halkeye is willing to carry the stated equipment, what benefit would be received by following your suggestion?

Sounds VERY much like a battery issue. OEM, generic, counterfeit? Fully charged both before shoot? Selected battery order? (Grip or body first?) I seriously doubt its a camera issue and would bet its a battery issue for sure.

I agree that the battery is the most likely cause of the issue. After a significant number of charge/discharge cycles (either partial or full) the internal resistance in batteries increases so that even a fully charged battery will supply less peak current to drive the motors and electronics than would a new battery.

I've never heard a differentiation between camera movement and camera vibration, but shooting hand held is when I DO use VR.

I think the distinction would be panning the camera intentionally vs. the minor camera movement incurred during hand holding. Some lenses even have special VR settings for panning.

Just for fun I imported the Download into Lightroom and hit Auto Tone in the Develop module. It gave +0.5 stop of additional exposure along with a few other changes. I like it better, as it brought out the fall colors and made the whole image less gloomy. But it is your image and you only need to please yourself. Best wishes.

Very interesting David. I took a look at the application on the Epson website and found the following:
"Supported Printers

Supports SureColor® P400, P600, P800, P5000, P6000, P7000, P8000, P9000.1"

I'm glad it works for your 3880 and wish they had something equivalent for my 1430.
Best wishes.

Just reread my manual and I was mistaken about the numbering of files, I would not get duplicate file numbers. If I find I am not keeping things up to date I will reload the backup software.

There are other software choices that permit direct reading, opening and copying of the backed up files. Just look for one that does not use a proprietary file format (and if you have the room, you can skip data compression, too). SyncBack has a variety of versions with such features that range in price starting from free.
