At my house we try to balance purchases for fun. As of today I am down a new boat and a skid loader. So I need some help.

I am a looking at mirrorless - Nikon and Sony. I have been a Nikon user for many, many years. Started out with a D90 many years ago and have worked my way to D850 and lots of glass. The smart thing (?) says Nikon mirrorless with a mount. Some techie dudes say move to Sony and get some new tech glass. I shoot basically anything that moves and when I get frustrated I shoot landscape. My first concern is shutter roll. Does the new firmware for Sony help? In my research long lens reach seems to be lagging behind. D850 and long lenses are heavy but fun. I have been fixed at the A7R4 for the birding possibilities. I shoot grandkid sports from swimming to football. Other than to catch up and some new bragging rights, what do you all see as the future of equipment - and is Nikon as a company, going to be gone soon?

It is difficult to go and hold and test new equipment these days. Plunking money down and waiting for mail delivery is easy but returning is not. Renting may be the avenue explored.

If you made the switch are you looking back?

I currently use a Nikon D750 and have been amazed by the photos I get. Recently, I have been presented with the opportunity to upgrade to a Nikon D850. Camera is from the original owner, who is upgrading to mirrorless, like new condition, 2 1/2 years old and 11,014 shots. Comes with original box and everything which came with it. Is this camera worth $2500? Certainly better than $2997 + tax for a new one. I know the choice is mine, just looking for some thoughts here. I do not see mirrorless as an option as I do not want to replace all my lens or have to use an adapter.

I often research camera gear, just to see what is new and exciting. I own the Nikon D7500, as well as the D600, and have taken many wonderful photos with them. However, many "camera gear experts" really bad mouth the D7500, mainly because it has just one card slot. Really? So, I am wondering, does the average hobbyist photographer really need two card slots on their camera? I have been shooting for more than 15 years now, have gone out on all-day long photo shoots, and have never filled up one card, and yes, I usually shoot in raw. Plus, I have never had a card failure where I lost the photos on my card, perhaps I am very lucky. So, weigh in please with your opinion.
