A shot from pro photographer Don Roos who is in Tokyo covering the Olympics. At least at this venue, there were far more Sony and Canon cameras and lenses in use than Nikon or other brands. Sony lenses have the "G" on them. Black "G" for G lenses, and red "G" for G-Master lenses. And every Sony camera in use is mirrorless. And remember all Associated Press staff photographers worldwide use Sony gear exclusively. Photo by Don Roos.

I use none of those brands and find this post interesting. It shows me that Sony and Canon have done excellent jobs of dominating the professional sports photo space. I do know that Canon has excellent on site support for their gear as well. I assume Sony does too. This info is simply an observation made on a discussion site dedicated to photography.

I don’t think that because most of the cameras in this photos are Canon and Sony it means that Canon and Sony are taking over worldwide photography.

What does the trend in pro sports photography have to do with selling ANYTHING ? Where was the word appearances even mentioned ? Why does everyone always have to personalize everything ? You bought your gear for a reason as we all did... is that reason any LESS VALID because someone else is using something else ? Way too much defensive posturing everywhere.

Not a real surprise when you look at market share. The sad part, no matter what your camera brand preference, is there are so few spectators watching the events live. It must be a big letdown for the athletes.

Did we forget that most of the photographers there are given the equipment that is to be used?

I doubt many Nikon users will be disturbed. Nikon users have become accustomed to other brand users being so insecure in their camera choices that they need to inflate their brand while demeaning Nikon, just so they can feel good about themselves.

You are never too old to dream of buying a Canon.

Oops, I think I hear the angry buzz of Nikonites swarming out like hornets from a nest that was just poked by a stick.
