Thanks. I downloaded a beta version of Win10, but I don't know if I want to go through the trouble of trying to get it to work.

I am not sure but the way I read into win10 is that it will automatically upgrade to ALL future updates forever. That would mean a monthly or yearly charge so like a lot of new software you'll just rent it.

I've been using Fences on my Win7 machine, and I wanted to use it on the Win8.1 computer. Apparently, Win8.1 requires a different version of Fences, and I haven't been able to get it working. The problem seems to be with Windows/Microsoft. It wants me to sign in with my MS account, whatever that is. Win8 gives me a full green screen with no choices other than signing in with MS. I have to use Ctrl-Alt-Del to get out of there and go to Task Manager. From there, I can get back to my desktop.

So, is there w way to use Fences Free with Windows 8.1?

Jerry, CNET offered this quote for fences,

Looks like a requirement.

Great dogs! I personally think that any human that wants to do away with any animal should also be placed on the euthanasia list. Before long our major problems will be eliminated.
I've had Pits and Rotties and they were all lovers. Of course they must be trained and not left in the yard on a chain to fend for themselves. Maybe we should chain a few of these well knowledged humans to a post for a while and see how they turn out! Dogs are like your children, if not raised and trained for the world they will not coexist the way they should.

Have you looked at any of the plug ins from lifepixel.com? They have some free presets that work in several pp applications.
And using the screw on filters require really long exposures where any movement of the subject is horrible. The converted camera doesn't need the long exposure and captures the image like a regular camera.
Do you do a preset color balance prior to shooting?
Did you have your lens calibrated for the ir?
It takes time but keep trying you'l get it!

I like to use a big floor jack to raise my cars, rather than the little thing that comes with them. In the past, I have cut a block of wood to put between the jack pad and the lower sheet metal of the car. I cut a groove in the wood so it's a good fit for the sheetmetal where the factory jack goes.

I'm trying something else, and I need suggestions. I bought two hockey pucks. I'll attach one on top of the other, so the one doing the lifting is high enough. Then I'll cut the appropriate groove into the puck.

I found that my table saw can easily cut a groove in the puck. Making multiple passes, I can make the groove as deep and wide as necessary. My question is, how can I hold the puck securely so I can make accurate passes without losing some of my fingers? I need some kind of holder to keep it steady and to prevent the rubber from dragging along the rip fence. The pucks measure 3" X 1".

Stick the hockey puck to a piece of wood the same width as the puck with double faced tape. Slide the assembly along the fence set to the proper dimension. The wood will keep your fingers a safe distance from the blade.

I'm interested in this topic also...to purchase a camera that will do time lapse photography, which will also process it in-camera. Something affordable, mirrorless, maybe with some zoom capability. I worry about my DSLR's, and the hundreds of mirror cycles for even a short time lapse.

Brinno! Everything is in the camera. It actually does a decent job and is super easy.
Google it

Go with the Brinno time lapse cameras. They do everything within the camera and all you have to do is remove the SD card and stick it in the computer. They do a nice job and are affordable. Do you really want to have hundreds or even thousands of shutter actuation for a single time lapse?

Great companions, my Mackie recently passed from cancer and failing kidneys. He was part of the team that helped me get through my cancer. He refused to leave my side during treatment and recovery. Best companion I ever had and is greatly missed.

Thanks GPappy and GrandmaJoy ... appreciate the comments.

And GPappy I know the pain of your loss well ... in the past 5 years I've lost three dogs, a miniature donkey I just adored and a cool old gentle horse. Cried like a baby each time and at age 68 not too proud to say that.

Brandi is getting pretty feeble and I'm trying to prepare myself for her time which I suspect is going to be soon. Have to leave all 3 of them in a kennel for a week next month and really hope she's there to greet me when I get back.

It has round turn signals so it's a '53.
The '54s had oval shaped turn signals.

I use elements most of the time, there are loads of tutorials available and it is usually pretty reasonable. GIMP is a free one but a little steep on the learning curve to me. There are loads of tutorials here on UHH to help you there. There is also PhotoPlus that is available from a place called Worldstart.com that is less than $20 and does almost everything that PhotoShop does. It will do layers and will work with Topaz plugins.
(At worldstart look under software/miscellaneous)
