I wish I had kept all my old printed 35mm photos, these are long gone since digital came around it's been far easier to save images. But I still miss the manual focus days. So unless you have the negative that go with these images, there not really anything you can do with them as any reprinting will distort the images.
Checked the fire site this morning and it's every photographers nightmare. The entire Untied States is blanketed in smoke. For those of you who don't know what this means, it means if you're asking for a clear blue sky day, you're not going to get it. No matter where you turn you're going to have haze in your images and no amount of PP "dehazing" afterward will get rid of it.
I just pray that when it's our time to travel, I hope the direction we've set for ourselves rewards us with some blue skies.
Oh almost forgot, that smokeymountain fall color site? We've used this site for 4 years and each time, it's been wrong, So I wouldn't trust that site anymore.
Same here DF, I've tried DPR, Gurushots, Viewbug, 500px, Fstoppers and a few others only to be out done by what is known as ringers. Those sites secretly add ringer or professional photographers at the last minute to steal your thunder away from you.
Gurushots: never made it past veteran. You don't win anything other than points and respect. Plus users tend to be using this site merely for photo storage and get votes from friends of friends on poor pictures.
Viewbug: couldn't participate because most of the challenges charge a fee. You could win cameras and gear here.
500px: never made it here either and you could win prizes.
Fstoppers: all you'll win here is the possibility of gaining respect, But don't count on it. I've submitted several of my images towards their challenges and the closest I've ever come to placing, was 50th for my Birch trees Image which was later deleted by Fstoppers.
Those "other" sites, I'm waiting to see how well I've done. But even those require a fee to participate some fees are as high as 100.00 per image with no guaranty that you'll win anything or even have your work on display in a gallery.
It's more the lens than the camera, but this Canon M6 has proven that it can handle extremely low to no light and still produce great pictures.
The image is not crisp even distorted or pixelated because you've enlarged to too much and adding the green field in the back ground doesn't help this image. Let's see the original. and if this is the original, then you need a better lens or a better camera.
Owning the Canon M6 for several years I've only auto clean the sensor twice. At some point I'll have to take it to the shop and have them professional clean if for me.
Reminds me we need to get back up to Amish country.
This is an issue I have to deal with anytime I take pictures. I have a nervous disorder and I must use a tripod or brace myself against something, especially if there's very little light. I've placed the camera on a bucket, lean against a sign post or tree, even placed the camera on the roof of our car. But this was all before I found my vintage tripod.
Welcome to my world. I'm constantly getting negative comments about my images and advice, Though some of the hogs have been very supportive of my work etc. I'll never get any recognition from any "professional photographers simply because I don't Post process my images or it's because I'm such a nice person to deal with. In my world there's only two people I need to worry about not liking my work, My wife and myself all the rest can go to hell.
Just an observation since my last post. I've been invited to participate in several art/photography community, but they request/require that i have an Instagram account. I was a bit hesitant, but once I started uploading images, I found that due to Instagram's new cropping system/format I'm able to tease post the images with redirects to my art sites. This is one way of not having my work stolen because if posted on Instagram, those viewing can not see the entire work which forces them to go and view my art pages. But once they are the art pages, and if those view click the enlarge option, the art pages add their own water marks. So far I thinking I've found a system that works for me with a few added safe guards.
This image has no desirably factory or a set focal point. Merely a tourist shot that follows the foreground right off the right side edge of the picture..
In order to accomplish this, one must set the camera to manual focus then set the lens to the infinity position.
The issue is, everything is in focus. You should have force focus your images on the main tree and allow the back ground to go out of focus. The other issue it timing or time of day, the natural light in this image doesn't offer you any benefit.
50.00 is a deal there should be no need to ask the wife.. But be warned, you'll not be the only one there paying 50.00 so you'll still have to deal with others in or around your shot. We'd do the 50.00 thing if we were headed that way.
