What is your experience with the best low light camera? I am looking to make a change from my Nikon D7500.
Thanks for your input.

Wouldn't Nikon's current, and possibly last, cropped DSLR be the best choice?

What lenses are you shooting with? You'll probably get more bang for the buck in changing lenses than changing from a cutting edge camera.

Thanks. I’m using the 200-500 and the 105 macro mostly. I also use others such as the 18-55 DX, 50mm 1.8,
35-70 3-4.5 and a Nikon wide angle. I just find the the Colour is not as vivid as I would like and even pp doesn’t help on some. I have other lenses that I seldom if ever use.
You are probably right about an upgrade in lenses but there is a lot of money involved😩😩😩

You might save yourself some money by starting a discussion about and with some example images, and discuss your issues and how to address. Being sure to store the file attachments for download and in-depth review to facilitate the discussion.

If you haven't, go to the Photo Shooting Menu / Set Picture Control / Vivid. If that isn't enough you can right arrow on Vivid and go to numerous further sub settings. I'd certainly try that before I bought another camera!

For low light a camera with large sensor is almost always and advantage. I think the D850 is a very good low light camera if you resize. My Df is decent in low light but it only has 16MP.

Among current and recent models, the D850 is probably the best choice, but the D810 is very close (within about half a stop). I have and use both, and it's hard to tell which camera produced which image. The D850 implements some control and layout revisions which I think make it a little easier and more convenient to use.

Setting your camera to "vivid" won't change a thing if you shoot in RAW. It will only affect the jpeg preview on your display. It will make a difference if you shoot jpegs. The D850 is a fine low-light camera.

You'll have to go to a full frame camera to make a difference. I have a Nikon D7500, D750, and D500. The full frame D750 is a superior low light camera. The larger sensor with its larger pixels produce lower digital noise than cropped sensor cameras. Here is a comparison of the S/N ratio of the D7500, D750, and D850. Here are some options for new full frame cameras:

Nikon D610 $1296.95
Nikon D750 $1999.00
Nikon D780 $2296.95
Nikon D810 $1799.00 (refurbished)
Nikon D850 $2346.00
Nikon D6 $6496.95
Nikon Df $2996.95 w/50mm lens
Nikon Z6 II $1996.95
Nikon Z7 II $3096.95

Agreed, about saving some money by starting another discussion. This one is not really aimed at that.

A color issue is almost always about processing, not about hardware.

A larger sensor is the answer.

I never do any side by side comparisons, so this is just my impression.

I have a D850 and D500, but my old D4s seems to do best in low light. It the one I use when photographing birds in the evening.

To tell you the truth, my older Nikon D3s is a knockout camera when it comes to low light shooting. Sometimes lower megapixel camera's do have an advantage.
My D4s was also a good low light camera.

D850, hands down for Nikon users.

Missed my D3S so much (given to my daughter) that I purchased a low shutter count used one a few years back. It has amazing low light performance and silky smooth files.
