Good action. You may want to check your WB setting.

That’s a normal function with the R5. I like it because it lets me know at a quick glance if there’s a battery installed as I take the camera from its case. It probably also helps speed start up

This is caused by an active touch screen. I had the same issue before I realized my nose was touching the screen as I looked through the viewfinder. Turn it off and it will go away.

Try turning off the touch screen function. I had the issue and realized my nose was moving the sensor when I brought the camera to my eye.

Great work! I’ve seen runners record their time on their own phones before but usually at exhibition matches or practice heats. This guy look to be taking a selfie 🤪

I believe kiosks are present not for the lack of available employees but more as a cost cutting method. As minimum wages are being raised throughout the country (which I support) fast food companies are raising prices and cutting costs to maintain profitability. Look at grocery stores for instance. My local Safeway and Walmart has at least 6 self-checkout stations with only a single employee providing oversight. I’ve read that eventually all items in a store will have chips attached so simply walking through a giant scanner will tabulate and charge your bank card without taking anything out of your cart. Where will all the jobs go?

That is the correct way to do it and is one of the reasons I have never understood the appeal of LR. This whole importing into LR catalog is weird IMHO. One of LR many cumbersome processes. I just import the files to my computer and they show up in Bridge. Deleting files is also a pita. Marking a photo and then having to go to the photo dropdown menu to delete them or doing an awkward command>option>shift>delete. In Br, just right click>delete. To send a photo to PS, you have to right click> edit in PS. In BR/Raw just hit open.
I know there might be many advantages to LR.I just haven't found them.
But to each his own.

I remember being very frustrated with LR as a new user. The processes seem counterintuitive at first. But once understood, as with any new program they become easier. I use Bridge also. But usually for processing a few files at a time. LR is far superior in batch processing when you’re editing large numbers as I do for wedding and sports photography mostly. LR also has many of the PS tools built in so you don’t have to use PS at all in most cases. But as you say, to each their own.

I suggest you follow this procedure:

Before opening LR copy files from your SD card to a permanent spot on your computer. When complete eject the SD card, open LR and import from the new location. As long as you don't move files (after import) LR will always find them. If you need to move files at a later date always move from within LR. Otherwise LR will lose the data path.

I’m not a major pixel peeper but I use cRAW almost exclusively for weddings and real estate photography and have no pixelization problems in LR. Straight raw files hover around 45-50 megabytes each which is ridiculously large and unnecessary in my view. I suppose for a special specific project where extreme enlargement might be needed I would opt for RAW but cRAW works just fine for me, although most of my work is with the mechanical shutter. I’ll have to run a few tests to see if there’s a difference.

15mm on a crop sensor will leave you wanting in smaller rooms but mostly you’ll be fine. My only additional advice is to shoot raw. You will need the dynamic range in post to dodge and burn shadows and highlights. Multiple flash units may be needed for lighting areas deep into adjacent rooms. You could also use in-camera HDR if your camera supports it. If you want to get an advanced lesson, check out a Rich Baum video.

My 24-105 L Canon lens produces very sharp images at all focal lengths. Unless I need the speed of a fixed focal length I find little IQ decrease with the zoom. Same with my 70-200 2.8.

Awesome captures of a super fun event. Wasn’t there also an alcohol plunge before and after? You missed that. 🤪
