Went to enter and the door was locked. with a sign on Open for Dine in, Then I read the rest of the sign.
Order at Kiosk and Tap to Pay (only) pick up order and then they will open the door for you to enter and eat.

Since I don't use any type of payment with my phone
I now have one more Fast Food Establishments on my Do Not Patronize List!!
Why should I have to burn my gas while waiting on them to get my order ready, then carry it to a table or eat in my car, and plus be able to pay cash at the drive thru window, if I want carry out.

My list Started with McDonalds
#2 Burger King
#3 Taco Bell
#4 KFC
Most of the Huddle House's are now closed along with a lot of Steak & Shake

Sounds like a lack of employees -- despite offering hiring bonuses. In our area we don't have closures such as you describe, nor pay outside at a kiosk in order to gain entry to dine in, but we do have places that require self-ordering inside using a kiosk because they can't attract enough employees to take orders. Just enough to cook and (sometimes) clean the tables. Occasionally only the manager/owner shows up and runs the place alone because no one else showed up to work that day.

It seems like a lot of Burger Kings are biting the dust. I have seen several closed and one in the same shopping center where I work at Sam's Club had a fire last year and I see no evidence they plan to reopen. It always seemed to underperform with never over about three cars in line at a time. I recently discovered a chain that holds promise. While visiting Charleston, SC last month I went to a Carvers (had never heard of them but there are about 900 I think). They have a much larger menu than the normal burger place and the food I got there was very good. One of their signature sandwiches is a roast beef sandwich which I didn't order but my friend Andy did and it looked very good -- Andy said it was. They have frozen yogurt and you can have it straight or with a choice of toppings. With the loss of better choice places like Steak and Shake which I considered a cut above the normal fast food places, I hope Carvers will come to this area in the near future. We had two Steak and Shakes here in the Lehigh Valley but both closed. Their burgers were good but their shakes were excellent.

I believe kiosks are present not for the lack of available employees but more as a cost cutting method. As minimum wages are being raised throughout the country (which I support) fast food companies are raising prices and cutting costs to maintain profitability. Look at grocery stores for instance. My local Safeway and Walmart has at least 6 self-checkout stations with only a single employee providing oversight. I’ve read that eventually all items in a store will have chips attached so simply walking through a giant scanner will tabulate and charge your bank card without taking anything out of your cart. Where will all the jobs go?

If you bring up their website it asks if you would like to own a Carvers. So it may depend on who owns one as to how good, or not it is. The one I visited was new so everything was pristine.

You can add to all that the unfortunate fact that the government is paying all those unemployed people not to work. Why work when they can sit on their fat butts and let the hard-working taxpayers support them? Raise the minimum wage and the companies will raise their prices to cover the higher wage costs, so nobody wins. The companies will also try to find ways to lower the number of employees in order to continue to make a profit. All of the fast food places are not owned by huge corporations, most of them are owned by people who saved their money and invested in a franchise which they work at 80-100 hours per week. Those people are certainly entitled to make money on their investment.

Did you perhaps dine at "CULVER'S" in lieu of "CARVERS"? CULVER'S has recently opened a few locations in the Charleston, SC area and their website says that there are 900+ CULVER'S restaurants across the USA. I did not find (using Google) any restaurants named CARVERS in this area. CULVER'S menu offerings and food quality are far above that of any other big-name fast food outlet.

It's more than that. I just learned today that there is actually a subgroup on reddit called "antiwork" whose goal is to abolish work, with 2.5 million followers. The posts would be hilarious if they hadn't been written by supposedly mature adults.

You are correct! Culvers, not Carvers (which seems to be a steakhouse).

Sorry to lead you astray -- the restaurant is Culvers, not Carvers. Carvers is a steakhouse with several listing around the country. I don't know if they are related or just several with the same name of Carvers.

I could care less if all the junk food joints go under! It's pure junk food at crazy prices! It's no wonder Wal-mart has an average of 20 obese people riding around in go-carts at any given time.

I avoid all the places listed above. The quality has declined, the price has increased and the employees are apathetic and don't give a sh-t.
