The facts, Sony, Nikon, Panasonic, Leica, have all opened up their lens mounts to third-party lens makers, and all these brands have increased their camera sales because of it. It is just smart business on their part. These third-party makers didn't steal Sony or Nikon, or Panasonic or Leica patents, they worked with these brands and have agreements to expand the lens choices for more photographers to become invested in these brands with many more affordable quality lenses. Smart business.
Full disclosure, Sony owns part of Tamron. And Sigma, Panasonic, Leica all went in together to use the same L-mount lenses from Sigma and other third-party lens makers.
IMHO, sometimes when you are so large and successful like Canon you can lose sight of what is best to grow your base. Canon's decision is already costing them some R body sales around the world, a fact, not fiction.
Sigma and Tamron aren't waiting around for Canon to license its RF mount at some future date, LOL. They are all moving full speed ahead with making more mirrorless lenses for Sony, Nikon, Panasonic, Leica, Sigma cameras.
Cheers and best to you.

The moment Canon gives Sigma and Tamron the green light to market RF compatible lenses, rest assured they will. By the way, Sony is a larger company than Canon. Also, you didn't answer my question! Another thing, as both Sigma and Tamron are Japan based companies, unlike the Chinese companies manufacturing the pirated technology, they most definitely will wait.
