I belong to a photography club and we have a upcoming photo contest. I don't usually participate but thought I would this time since I had something that would fit the theme. I took several pictures of a barn in Northwest Missouri. I couldn't make up my mind which I liked the best. Any thoughts would be appreciated. Also feel free to give a reason why you do or don't like any of the photos

#2 but if it was me I think I would crop it some.

I'm wanting to get a portable solution for running Creative Cloud software to manage my photographs. I've about had it with Windows so that leaves Macbook Pro and Mackbook Air. Which of the two do you think will work best for this purpose? Please answer based on your experience

i have a MAC Book Pro for almost a year now. Love it. I also have a Windows 7 desktop and only is used now for my CAD software. I had a Windows 8 for about 6 weeks and although there were features I liked but it was just too problematic. Not sure why the one person thought the MAC Book Pro had a poor battery life mine goes for about 5 hours or more. I have absolutely no complaints on this MAC Book Pro. Well just 1 initial cost. But the aggravation I had with the Windows 8 laptop I can justify the cost of this Mac.

What YOU have stated here does NOTHING to REFUTE the fact that getting the image OFF the sensor is a HELLOVA lot more representative of what WILL be recorded than what you see by ONLY looking through a lens.

THAT sir... is not only logical, but factual.

And while your video experience is great... your conclusion to the contrary is just WRONG.

Now it's OBVIOUS you have a personal bias AGAINST EVFs and in favor of OVF's. Well, good for you. As my little old redneck mother-in-law says, "if you like it, I LOVE it!" But there are others here with lots of experience as photographers at ALL levels who LOVE EVFs.

There are also plenty of us who have used other brands but now use SONY cameras because WE like.... no; LOVE them.

Your opinion is just that; YOUR opinion. No need to try to put OTHERS down for theirs.
 br br What YOU have stated here does NOTHI... (show quote)

Just wondering what is the advantage of a Mirrorless camera over a digital full frame camera? I'm interested in your comments.

jerryc41 wrote that mirror less have smaller sensors but that is not totally true. I have a Sony a7R and it has a full frame sensor.
This camera is not perfect for everything but everything I currently shoot does an excellent job, allowing me to leave my Canon 7D at home. The 7D is a good camera in its own right but I am really impressed with the Sony.

Atmospheric clarity and early to mid-morning light + polarization dictated the color saturation, which, for me, I like versus leanings toward pastels.

Here's a couple of different compositions for the Thomas Moulton barn:

Perhaps the most photographed iconic barns in all America are those constructed in the late 1800s by Thomas and John Moulton, early settlers of Mormon Row at Antelope Flats, Grand Teton N.P., Jackson Hole, Wyoming.

Included is an image of Gibbons Falls, Yellowstone N.P.

The identical images here are represented in both color and B&W to solicit preferences by viewers. Your critique is my learning curve; so have at it.

These are all good but the colors are best. Slightly over saturated for my taste and although the B & W are good, I most generally always prefer color because I see in color

Scary to think the animals might have spend winter in there :)

Maybe they just use it for wind break during the winter. The barn probably gives them better protect standing on the East side of the barn rather than inside.

Does anyone have a sony mirrorless camera, do you like it?
Thinking of going mirrorless.

I purchased a Sony a7R about 2 months ago with a FE F1.8 55mm prime lens. Has good build quality and the pictures are awesome. Still learning of all its capabilities and really enjoy the less weight hanging around my neck when I am doing a tour of one of my shows that last at least 8 hours.Since getting this Sony I have only used my Canon 7D one time. Nothing wrong with the 7D but it will soon be offered for sale here on UHH. DO I have complaints about the Sony, yes. First the battery life does not seem to be that long. 2nd, Lack of lens choices, however I plan to purchase the 70-200mm G lens and with the 2 lens, with the 2 lens will do 95% of what I photograph. The other 5% will be done with my Canon SX50HS camera. This Sony is the 1st full frame camera I have owned and as I said I am well pleased with it.

Nice ones countryman60951  Between you, me and a few others we should be able to shoot every barn in the country.  Keep shootin man. Richard

I want to give you a very special thank you. It was your great pictures that made me think about old barns in this area. Ones I have driven past for a long time not giving them a second thought. Now I look at them in a whole new light. Again I thank you.
