I purchased the A6000 3 months ago and never pick up my Nikon D610 anymore. It is lighter and goes with me 100% of the time. I just ordered the Sony A7s to go with it. I am older now and don't think I will ever go back to a heavy dslr. Oh, I love it.

I tried the Sony NEX cameras buy went back to my Nikon DSLRs. I guess it's the "old dog, new tricks" thing. I didn't like the electronic viewfinder and the controls, although I did learn how to control things. I just prefer the feel and controls of my Nikons.

==============================

I have a Canon 60D, Canon SX50 and have a NEX 3,
A NEX 5 and now a NEX 6. The NEX 6 is now my favorite camera - Viewfinder, tilting viewfinder, Wi-Fi, Movie Auto HDR, and now full function on tripod with smart phone - see image, remote firing etc. With the telephoto, I can cover all the range of my "big" Canon with equal or better quality.

Get the NEX 6 now while available for under $500. By the way it now has flash built in, hot shoe for accessories, and is easy to use.

I have Fuji X series cameras and lenses. Love them. When I go out on a photo shoot my DSLR sets at home. I carry my X-E1 and four lenses in a small to mid sized shoulder bag. Image quality of this system is excellent. Saving my money for an X-T1. I will never go back to DSLR.

I just started with the NEX-6 with the sony a-mount adapter I can use all of my sony mounted glass as well as, many other lenses from other systems I have only dreamed of. I love the lghter weight, it's faster due to the lack of mirror movement. I'm rapidly falling in love as I get more familiar with it. I still have a place in my heart for my A850, but next upgrade I may go completely mirrorless.. BTW the NEX-6 now lives in my car, which was something I didn't like doing with my dslr's. I think if you can adapt to the smaller form factor you'll be hooked!

I had the NEX-7, for a short time, and sold it on this forum. Size was small, build quality and image quality was just not there. I now have a Sony A7 that I took in on trade and evaluated for a week. I absolutely hate the EVF for its false colors and slow refresh rate, it is now in my rental inventory for those that want to try one out. Build quality and image quality are both better than the NEX-7.

There is one question only you can answer: does the electronic viewfinder (EVF) work for you? This should be answered for the specific camera you are considering, because the technology is still developing and some are not as good as others. If the EVF of the model you are considering is uncomfortable to use for you, then I think that would be a bad camera to buy.

Buy the Olympus OMD E-M1, not the Sony. The Oly has better everything: EVF, touchscreen/tiltscreen, lens selection (along with Panasonic--Leica selections), in-body 5-axis stabilization, focusing speed, image software, weathersealing, and image quality.

What camera do you shoot now. What types of things do you like to shoot. What's your reasoning for wanting to go mirrorless?

If you are just doing overall general photography and are wanting to lighten your load while still having a more than capable camera, then I would suggest you look at the following:

Olympus EM10
Sony A6000
Panasonic Gx-7

If you need more and have more money to spend, look at the higher end models like:
Olympus EM1
Sony A7/A7r/A7s
Panasonic GH4
Fuji Xt-1

Pick anyone one of these, and you should be more than happy.

I'm given her all I've got...she can't take anymore...I'm afraid she'll blow... (best recited in Scotty's scottish brogue)
