I belong to a photography club and we have a upcoming photo contest. I don't usually participate but thought I would this time since I had something that would fit the theme. I took several pictures of a barn in Northwest Missouri. I couldn't make up my mind which I liked the best. Any thoughts would be appreciated. Also feel free to give a reason why you do or don't like any of the photos

I would lighten up #3 and submit

The first is too dark for my taste and the large foreground shadow does not add to the photograph.
The third has a foreground that overwhelms the subject.
I think the second is the best although you may like it with a closer crop, eliminating the foreground altogether. 8-)
Edit: Changed my mind about a closer crop. The foreground fence enhances the image. :-)
Edit: Another photo just appeared, I'm sticking with the second one.
I like #2 the most, although it feels a bit bright to me. I like the foreground fence. It seems to complete the scene. Good luck.
I too say #2 but maybe try taking out the lower 1/2 of the bushes below the fence
I like #2 a lot, but with some of the bottom cropped out, making it nearly a square. I'd darken the sky a bit.
I also like #4. It's just a relaxing, peaceful scene, nicely balanced.
I don't envy your decision-making. They all have merit.
(edit - I see that plessner was posting what I was thinking and typing at the same time :) )
Personally, I'd go with #3. But I'd crop out much of the foreground.
And I'd love to see this shot through a hole in the bushes.
I think the barn is too small and far away in all the shots.
I would like to see the barn being a more prominent and important part of the image.
These are more like field and bush photos then barn photos.

The theme is landscape not barn photos so that might work ok. When I was driving by, the part the struck my interest was Pasture which the barn was a part of. Thanks for the imput. Next time when I'm in the area I will try a close up of the barn
I like the second photo, but, for me to much space between the fence and the barn...so for that reason I like the third one , but with the bush and the angle of the shot you lose the fence and I Think the fence helps the photo....number four I think on download I saw a plane in the clouds ....I'd go with number three

So would you make the crop just right below the fence pretty much as close as you can?

I like your idea. It's about 60 miles away so have to try that on my next trip
thanks
#2 I think the fence adds.

I like #2, the fence completes the composition.
