Of course you know that since the test was run using two different lenses, the results were "tainted" from the beginning....

If you read the whole article it says that the same lens was used for some of the tests, a Sigma Art,a Canon 100 f2.8, and a Canon TS. Results were similar. The Canon had better color. Be that as it may, if the Canon with a Canon lens is better than the Sony with a Sony lens the conclusion has to be that the Canon system is rendering better color.

Just my unscientific observation, your mileage may vary.

I have some B+W UV filters for protection. I know I don't need them but they make me feel better. I have a B+W polarizer that I had to send back because the adjustment ring wouldn't turn. They fixed it, but it is not working again. I now have Breakthrough polarizer in 82mm (my biggest lens) that is a dream. I use step rings to accommodate my other lenses.

In ND I have a set of Lee filters that I don't use much because they are not as convenient to use as the Breakthrough screw-in's that I have, and they tend to have a color cast that the Breakthrough does not have.

The filters I have are not cheap, but I have tried various cheap filters, and they are just that, cheap.

I have had an a6000 for a while and really like it for travel. I recently got the new 18-135 (27-202 equalivant) $500.00 lens for my birthday, and it made this camera a near perfect travel camera. The lens is lighter and smaller than most in this range and is very sharp. Here is a sample shot. This was at 135 and cropped very tight.

The only drawback is the fact that at 18-30mm the lens causes a shadow when the pop up flash is used.

Hunt your wife down and . . . well, you know the rest. Take advantage of that 20% off discount. I told my Canon rep that if she could get me a 20% discount I'd purchase the new mirrorless EOS R now. But she said that even she couldn't get it that cheap. Now I'm beginning to think she lied to me since you say they are offering 20% off now in Albuquerque. Go for it and get that wife of yours to give the wallet back.

Found out today that the 20% doesn't apply to the EOS R, just to everything else. 5D mk 4 with a 24-105 f4 II is 3499.

The balloons were really fun until I discovered the Canon tent.

Canon is the official sponsor of the fiesta and they maintain a big tent there. They have cameras and lenses for loan, they have cameras and lenses set up to just try (Canon 1 DX with a 400 MM f2.8, etc, and they sell just about anything you could want, and have the stuff in stock.

They had a new mirrorless on display, but couldn't sell it until tomorrow because that is the release date. The rep. told me they had them in stock and I could get one tomorrow. As an added benefit, everything was 20% off. The 5dMk 4 with 24-105 f4 II was 3,499. Body only was 2799. Fortunately my wife stole my wallet.

Just note. Elk are wild animals. During the rut they are crazy on testosterone, or the elk equalivant, and they will attack just about any thing that gets close to them. There have been many hurt and some killed by trying to get that perfect closeup shot.

Correct me if I am wrong. Doesn't the II have Image Stabilization (IS)? Did a version III come out?

No stabilazation. Not aware of a III being out yet. The II that I have is a very sharp lens. Can't speak to the 1st generation as I never used one. If I had a 1st generation I doubt I would be looking into a II.

The 70-200 III is out and I am not looking to upgrade my II. Just can't see that there is that much of an advantage.

Not a Dr. and certainly not an expert on anything medical, but I have heard that Medical MJ has been found to help with Parkinson's as well as host of other ailments. When my niece was fighting cancer and almost unable to function she used some drops under the tongue and experienced a lot of relief.

Not trying to be the "Pusher Man" here, just offering a suggestion.

When I retired I needed something to fill the days so I bought (Got for Christmas) a camera and started taking photography classes at the local community college. We are fortunate to have an instructor that was a professional photographer for 30 years, with a 10 year stint as the in house photographer for the Dallas Cowboys.

I have learned enough that I feel confident in doing senior pics, school sports, homecoming, prom etc. Have done a couple of weddings, but that is just not my thing.

I don't charge for my services, but do get a nice gift card once in a while, and do mostly people I know, however lately I am getting a lot of referrals. As a class we also do charity photos at senior living facilities.

All in all, this has become a passion with me and keeps me out of the recliner.

Sounds like ISO too high with a camera that doesn't handle high ISO well. The D 3200 is not known for being an ISO monster. Use your tripod at around f8, ISO 100 or 200 and what ever shutter speed is required to to get the exposure. I would guess for a sunrise somewhere around 1/8 to 1 second maybe slightly longer. Use the self timer if you do no have a remote shutter release to avoid causing shake when you push the button.

Sony A6000 or 6300 with 18-135 f 3.5-5.6 lens. This will cover about anything you want to shoot until you decide your personal direction and won't break the bank. A6300 with lens is 1,300 and the A6000 with lens is about 1,150

I am think more point and shoot since at 9 she needs a more rugged camera than the A6000. Was thinking of the Olympus tough series. Any thoughts

I didn't realize the A6000 was not pretty rugged. I have banged mine around on a motorcycle for 3 or 4 years now with no ill effects that I can see. A new one from Amazon with the 15-50 lens is 548.00 so it is in your desired price range.

Since you already have the Sony system, you might consider a Sony A6000. Good camera, sharp images, and won't break the bank. It is a nice size for travel or younger shooters.
