Canon is the official sponsor of the fiesta and they maintain a big tent there. They have cameras and lenses for loan, they have cameras and lenses set up to just try (Canon 1 DX with a 400 MM f2.8, etc, and they sell just about anything you could want, and have the stuff in stock.

They had a new mirrorless on display, but couldn't sell it until tomorrow because that is the release date. The rep. told me they had them in stock and I could get one tomorrow. As an added benefit, everything was 20% off. The 5dMk 4 with 24-105 f4 II was 3,499. Body only was 2799. Fortunately my wife stole my wallet.

Which is more fun, the balloons or the photo equipment?

Hunt your wife down and . . . well, you know the rest. Take advantage of that 20% off discount. I told my Canon rep that if she could get me a 20% discount I'd purchase the new mirrorless EOS R now. But she said that even she couldn't get it that cheap. Now I'm beginning to think she lied to me since you say they are offering 20% off now in Albuquerque. Go for it and get that wife of yours to give the wallet back.

I was in the Canon tent myself yesterday.
I have SOooo many balloon photos that I decided to just go light yesterday and brought my little fujifilm camera with me. I quickly regretted it but......it did kind of free me up to do more watching and less shooting.
Getting to the fiesta from Rio Rancho yesterday morning was a disaster and I missed the mass accention but the Canon tent made the trip worth while.

Seeing the 1Dx with the 400 2.8 attached sitting on the deck behind the tent made me consider a felony atempt.

This ought to be interesting. I wonder how the hurricane will affect the balloonfest? I will be there also. Never been to Albuquerque before. I wonder which cameras to take? Which lens or lenses should take? Should I take my i phone or my Galaxy? Did I leave anything out? Oh, yeah, Jpeg or RAW? Gee... If I don't know by now, I am really screwed. Lol.

Found out today that the 20% doesn't apply to the EOS R, just to everything else. 5D mk 4 with a 24-105 f4 II is 3499.
