Joe, I think Canon has decided to take FULL advantage of loyal customers... and I don't mean that in a positive way. :x

This camera is 3 years BEHIND the competition, and it costs TWICE as much to boot.

Canon owners should NOT be suckered into spending premium money for a product that is not even CLOSE to what the market currently says is standard in terms of performance and image quality. :(
If that's is the case why did Scott Kelby move from Nikon to Canon and you should read what he says about the 7DMK2. He spent an hour talking about it! Enough said !!
Nor should they be FOOLED into thinking that what Canon has to offer in the 7DII is anything BUT substandard when compared to the current state of the art for APS-C flagship cameras.

MT. in your opinion, which of the two lens Tamron 150-600
or the Sigma 150-600 auto focuses faster? is there any difference in AF speed between these lens mounted on Canon bodies or Nikon bodies that you have tried them on?
thanks Washy

After just spending a silly amount of money on the colour munki (and that is the basic entry level device), my reasoning is going to sound a bit odd.
On the one hand I buy a piece of kit to get better colour rendition, (fed up of re printing multiple times to remove a colour cast that was not on screen)
Yet we still always go and buy the cheaper inks and what ever paper is on special deal, rather than the more expensive branded items.

Odd though it may seem...there is a reason of sorts.

Most of the printing that gets done here is colour documents, random "For Sale posters", event tickets or whatever, all items where colour accuracy is not of great importance.

So to buy expensive inks of which 80 % is wasted on unimportant 'trash' is just not worth it.

Yes I suppose I could buy the better expensive inks and only put them in when printing photos...but all extra hassle...and not considered it before.

I have just bought the Colour Munki, as the view on here and other forums seemed to be that it was the way to go to get colour accuracy.

Now I know the device, I can do a profile, with a couple of sheets and 20 minutes

there was I thinking you wanted to print some quality images, you cannot alter what the printer prints from a colour monki, the colour monki will only alter what's on your screen if you want quality prints then individual profiling is the way to go, without buying expensive inks

I am in Jersey, so could use them.
Just had an order arrive, from PhotoPaperDirect. ordered yesterday.arrived today.

As you say, I could use the ready mane profiles, but how do different profiles from the manufacturers cope with different inks?

But either way..now I can profile..after finding out how to do it..and having the device to do it, that ( Iwold have thought) would have been more accurate?

Once you have your profiles. which were made according to your printer and your ink, you use the same ink and only alter/choose which profile according to which paper. Having your own profiles made for you by Fotospeed starts out by you downloading their profiling pack, then you send them some prints, they use a profiles machine to create your profiles according to which papers you may wish to use. Of which there are numerous. Their papers are reputed to be some of the best and not that expensive. I bought from them a test pack of A3 size paper of 25 sheets for much less than £30 of various types of paper with free profiles thrown in. Try them with a test [pack of A4 print some images post them back to them and your profiles will arrive normally by email within 48hours, You can also get expert advice from them on which papers are better for which type of image. Landscapes, people faces, buildings etc

You could always use Canon's own profiles but having tried most ways to get the correct tones and colours, I went to Fotospeed, now the prints are just right.

When setting up to calibrate/paper/printer ink profile with a colormunki, it says to Turn off colour management at the printer.

The two option sin the Print dialogue are:
Canon Colour matching

Colour Sync

I am guessing that I should use Colour Sync. but when I select that, I then have to select a profile..but I am trying to create a profile. so which profile do I start with ...because I need to print with the same profile but I am going to sue in future...but the one I am join got use in future, is not yet created....Chicken- Egg scenario

Anyone know ?

Find a company to buy your paper from, if they are up to scratch they will make some profiles according to the ink you use, the paper you use and the printer you use. Quite easily done if you send them the required information. We have a company here in the UK called Fotospeed, if you buy their paper the profiling is free. So when you print, each profile matches the paper you want to print on. I have currently on my pc, which is printed via Lightroom or Photoshop five different profiles. Matt, Lustre, Satin, Gloss and Metallic. You can have as many as you wish. try them, Fotospeed.com Why buy expensive ink and paper only for them not to match.

Too much crap is spoken and written by many people about the digital age of photography, because little do they know , in their ignorance, that we were doing exactly the same in our darkrooms many years ago. The only difference being, it was more difficult, in some cases it took longer and some of the results were not as good. Wives are allowed their opinion though, but are not always right.

Has anyone purchased this? Do you think it's worth it?

Before you part with your green backs have a look at Serge Ramolli on you tube . There are many so called "experts " all trying to make a buck or more and some of them are not so expert. But Serge seems to know his stuff

Hi,

I have been a huge fan of Nikon since I started taking photography seriously about 3 years ago.

But after my camera came loose and fell off my blackrapid strap, onto grass from about the height of my hip, and it stopped being able to use any of my D lenses. I sent it in for repair. This took 3 months, and about a month and a half after sending it in and clearly explaining what was wrong with it, I got it back and it still wasn't working. After sending it back, and another month and a half later, I got it back and it was working. The Nikon technician still argued with the camera store guy, that I sent it through, about what was wrong with the camera.
And then about a month later my SB-700, which is about a year and a half old, just died on me at a shoot. (in-case anyone asks, the flash wasn't attached to the camera when it fell.)

I might just not be having the best of luck with my gear, but the experience has left a very bad taste in my mouth. And it sucks, as I love my camera,(its a D7000), and have fought for Nikon in many an argument against my Canon friends, of which I am the only Nikon user.
In the absence of both my camera and flash, a Canon friend let me use his spare camera, 650D, 1 lens and a flash unit. I dont like the viewfinder, the focusing points, the sound the camera makes,(this is a real issue for me, as it takes away from the feeling of capturing something special), where the buttons are, the menus, ect. But what I was getting looked better than what I was getting out of my Nikon. And shooting with roughly the same settings I would have used for my camera in that situation.

So now I am torn between sticking with my beloved Nikon, or moving over to Canon. I have looked at the specs of the cameras in roughly the same price range, 70D 60D and 7D, and compared them to the D7000. Used the website snapsort.com.

Is there anyone that has made the move over from one to the other, in about the same range, that could share some advise?

It manners not a jot to I, wether you choose Nikon or Canon. What does matter to myself though is the speed and quality of any service I require from my choice of camera manufacturer, as it happens I chose Canon because I had a Canon film camera and the lens from that fitted my first Dslr, so I bought Canon. since then I have been loyal and stayed with Canon. However on Tuesday night when out shooting in live view one of the micro switches on my Canon stopped working. I phoned Canon they suggested I send it, I did on Tuesday, it arrived 1st post Wednesday they started working on it on Wednesday pm completed and checked it this morning Thursday. Dispatched it by UBS it will arrive tomorrow Friday. So a 3 day turn around including one day by our post service, 3/4 of a day by courier(UBS) . Talk about service, it is just brilliant., from what you say about your Nikon experiences, I will stay with Canon thanks and would happily and honestly recommend their cameras to any one, not only for the quality of the cameras and lens but for the service.

Refurbished for $300, you're better off adding the little extra and getting new........
Good luck!

Linda? Before you do anything write a stern letter to the Managing Director/Chief Executive of Canon USA. you can find where he works from if you try. Tell him how dissa pointed you are with Canon's reply to your predicament as regards the SX50). Tell him how you have praised it on UHH etc. I had an issue with my 60d. I wrote such a letter complaining the warranty was not being accepted by Canon. My 60D was 2nd hand but when I bought it , it had only 90 shots taken with it. tell him that you have been a Canon buyer for x no of years , lay it on thick. Then wait for the reply. My 60d was fixed in three days at a cost of £35, whereas it should have been much more. the intervention of the MD had a great effect. Best of luck

Hi MT. Have you got hold of the Tamron 150-600 yet. If you have what do you make of it compared to the Sigma 50-500 or the Sigma 150-500 ?
