Oh dear lets hammer sony says outsider even though i know nothing about them. myself and one of my friends shoot sony, and his camera happens to be the a55 which he reckons to be top notch, im going up to a sony a57 as i have every confidence in sony.

I don't see where I was "Hammering" Sony Cameras at all. I just know Sony is having severe financial issues. That is all I meant by saying them being in it for the long run. I'm sure they make fine cameras.

Really like the third picture......

That's my road-dog, Maddy. She absolutely hates having her picture taken, but she puts up with me. I see you have one too. Almost looks like twins.

His name is Mickey. He is actually my wife's dog even though I spend most days with him. He has that little dog attitude, he thinks he is a Great Dane and lets you know.

She has that same attitude. When I take her for walks she'll take on any dog she sees, German Shepards, Pit Bulls. She's a nut.

Okay, first try formatting your card. If that works then there's your problem. If not then try setting your camera back to it's default settings. If you need help doing that let me know. The 7D has two processors and shouldn't be saying "busy" unless you've been shooting at high speed 8-fps while it's emptying the buffer. I've never seen it happen with "one shot" as your drive setting. Let us know if that does the trick. good luck.

I'd stay with the Canon, Nikon, and maybe look into the Pentax Hangman is talking about. I shoot with Canon, but my first SLR was a Pentax K-1000. It was 1980 or so I was 11 or 12 years old and mowed lawns for 8 months saving every cent until I had enough money. I'll never forget that day or that camera (someone stole it out of my locker at school). Anyway, Pentax glass and camera bodies are very good as well. I know nothing about Sony but I'd worry if they'll be in the DSLR business for the long run, but that's just me. Nikon is fantastic as well. Check out DPreview.com, they have good reviews on cameras, lens, equipment, etc. Welcome to the world of SLR Photography.

Are you saying that after you take a shot the camera says 'Busy' and that's why you can't take another shot? If so, it might be a bad CF card. Please describe more detail your settings, time of day, ect.

Wish I was going on a vacation. I don't know what kind of budget you have but I'd look into getting a wider mm lens. 28mm isn't very wide and I'm sure you're going to want to take some Landscapes on your trip. Canon and Sigma both have a 10mm - 20mm lens. The Canon is expensive but is incredible, the Sigma is almost as good and much less expensive. You might even be able to rent a lens atyour local Photography shop. I hope this helps you. Have a good time.

I'm Chris and I've been checking out your site and it's very interesting with some good photographers. I've been in photography for 30+ years but this is the first forum I've joined. Here are a few exposures I took recently this last spring.

California Poppy

Maybe think about attempting to take the shot again. Put out some kind of deer feed when it gets close to snowing again so the deer knows to show up at that spot if it wants something to eat. But this time you'll be ready with the proper lens. I've done something like this with very good results. But, maybe try converting your original image into a painting or water color using Photoshop or Paint Shop Pro. Good luck.
