I thought that I would dip my toes in the Food Photography pool. By the time I arranged the subject, checked the aperture, shutter speed, and ISO, the subject had disappeared. I am not discouraged. I shall continue my quest......!

As long as we are going down memory lane, does anyone remember Bob Kelly recreating games when there was a rain-out day? Bob used to broadcast the Los Angeles Angel games of the Pacific Coast League, pre-Dodgers circa 1948ish. Anyone collect baseball cards from Signal Oil gas stations?

I'm still savoring the 2016 World Series Championship victory of the Chicago Cubs. By the time the World Series starts on Tuesday, I will have my Los Angeles Dodgers wardrobe ready. Now let me see........what to get for the proper enjoyment of the World Series.....lots of chips, avocados for fresh guacamole dip, salsa, hummas, a visit to the deli for homemade deli sandwich goodies......soft drinks....that's about it. I think that I'm ready. Wait......I need the stat sheets for the teams. How can I outguess the managers without computer printouts.

I bought the A6000 because it cost $550 with a lens. This is not my primary camera. I use it when I wanted something small and compact. I saw no reason to pay more for something higher up the A6xxx line. I could spend hundreds more, but would I really see any difference in the pictures? I have two links below to A6000 how-to videos by Gary Fong. Below that are links to camera comparison sites. As carpenters say (sort of) "Think twice before you spend once."

I believe that the carpenter proverb is "measure twice and cut once".\

It is my only camera. Our club of 30 or so people and over the last 3 years 9 of them have purchased this camera. Some have better lenses than I do but all of us enjoy their capable camera. My only complaint is shooting in sport mode it still can't get tack sharp images of my labradoodles coming straight into the lens. Otherwise it is a mighty fine camera that works well with my adaptor and Takamar lenses from my old film Pentax camera.

It is On a place called "The Peninsula" Just south of Tulelake, California and the Oregon border. Specifically at a place called Newell, California. It was very near one of the WWII Japanese internment camps. In fact, a guard tower for the camp was located only a few hundred yards away from it on the same hill. Best I know it's been there since I was a child 60+ years ago. I don't know who originally put it up. It was vandalized and torn down several years back and the locals re-erected it

Forgive me, but I think in this context, ".....and the locals resurrected it" might be appropriate. Just a thought.

Hopefully, I'll get a proper answer, without all the usual bulls**t from the usual suspects.
Why is kneeling before the f**g, considered less respectful than standing?

I believe that the situation creates the context in which the act is then interpreted. In the football stadium, the past practice has been to stand for the playing of the national anthem. Using that as the standard practice, kneeling is an act in opposition to standing in respect. In church, kneeling is a sign of respect and submission. To stand in that environment would be a statement in opposition. This is my serious interpretation to your serious question.

Here's the question. Have you regretted any of those purchases? If not your sins are forgiven.

Dandi, I have duly noted your caveat. A this time, I don't think that the lady of the house will go for another surprise guest.

Knowing a quite a bit about Yom Kippur and a bit about photography, I can assure that you are by no means in the clear my son. For a full and guilt free forgiveness you must first make the arduous cross country pilgrimage to B&H Photo the Mecca of Photography where you will bare your soul to Clerics trained, expert and seasoned in the sins of all manner of technology and who themselves have been tested a time or two. They will listen with sympathy, gravitas and furrowed brow to your confession and advise you as to the required penance.

NOTE: Like all things worthwhile in life, a "full and guilt free forgiveness" may come at a cost. Much may depend on how much room you have in your suitcase and your credit limit.

All said with a big tongue in cheek. Enjoy all that you have and accept my best wishes to you and yours and all my fellow members celebrating this time of year for a Happy, Healthy, Sweet, Prosperous and Joyous New Year.

Thank you for the "invitation". I suspect that all will power will disappear upon entry through the gates to BH. I'm sure that the sweaty palms and facial drool will mark me as a tourist. Chag Sameach!
