I got my A6000 at the first of May and it wasn't a good honeymoon, and I have several threads here on that (lenses primarily). BUT, I've learned a lot since then, especially that the problem was me and not the equipment. I've done a complete 180 on it. I absolutely LOVE the little thing now after learning how to use it better. Even the 16-50mm lens is much better than I thought.

I've added several legacy type lenses and they're a hoot to play with. Few have exceeded the quality of the kit lenses though. I have learned that I'm not steady enough without a tripod or IS, so I'm anxious to see what the new updated model will actually have. Hopefully in-body IS and weatherproofing.

Ron, the Sony A6000 Camera that I just purchased from B&H Photo, came with Camera Firmware Version # 2.00 installed in it. This is the current Firmware Version. I checked with Sony's Tech Support Line at 1-800-222-7669 and they verified this information.

I'm going to check mine and see what version I have. I updated it sometime in May and don't remember what that version was.

I'm now really liking/loving this little camera after spending the summer with it in Colorado. I'm getting a much higher "keeper" count and have added several lenses to my collection. I've even decided the 16-50 kit lens isn't nearly as bad as I thought - I just needed to learn how to use it. I just bought a 75-300 zoom lens plus a 70-200 zoom w/macro, both found in a booth in an antique mall - $8 each. One has a Nikon mount and the other is a Pentax mount. I have adapters for each (which doubled my investment!) and they work pretty well. I forget the brands but the price was too good to pass up. I've also got a 200-500mm Tamron coming from Adorama that I'm hoping will satisfy my thirst for a long lens. Tons cheaper than the current 150-600mm model. Should be here in the next couple of days.

With all my manual and non-stabilized lenses I'm still anxiously awaiting the arrival of the Sony upgrade to the A6000 - hoping it has in-body stabilization. If so I'll have to start another piggy bank aimed at it.

Squirrels don't come into our yard, so I get excited whenever I see them. I would love to have as many different varieties as you.

The closest I come to anything remotely resembling a squirrel is our resident chinchilla. I think he's now about 15, the last of many we've raised. They were going to be a coat, but they'd leave as soon as I moved! Never did get them trained. :-)

Ha! Not so dumb little critters.

Thanks for the visit and wonderful reply Ron - my first laugh of the day! We don't have any of these guys living close, otherwise I would name them, too.:-)

Our little Chickaree (pine) squirrels became "Leroy Brown" because they were the baddest squirrels around - the littlest squirrel would chase off everything else, regardless of size. Prettiest squirrels we have are the Aberts, both black and gray varieties. The grays are absolutely beautiful.

Naturally, the Golden Mantle Ground Squirrels became "Chipper" because they look just like the Chip 'n Dale chipmunks from Walt Disney. The real chipmunks we have (Least Chipmunks) we call Chippees. Our black oil sunflower seed bill prolly exceeds our personal grocery bill. Worth every penny to watch all the interactions between these little guys and the birds.

Very nice series of shots. We have those in Colorado and there they are called Rock Squirrels. We personally give names to all our squirrel and chipmunk varieties, and the rock squirrel became "Louie Hoover" because the first time we saw one he/she was sucking up sunflower seeds like a Hoover vac. His full cheeks made him look kinda like a hoover also.

If my eyes are not deceiving me I believe you can walk on over and give ol teddy a good scratching under the chin and not be concerned about getting eaten. And, I don't think this one will be eating any dandelions either.

Fantastic shots, Steve. Talk about keeping your eye on the ball, that coyote is FOCUSED! Lunch is about to be served.

By some coincidence I bought your ebook (Secrets To Stunning Wildlife Photography) not 15 minutes ago and have been on your mail list for several months. Needless to say, you do very nice work. I'm looking forward to spending some time with the book and my camera.

Nice shot. I absolutely love Ravens - wish I saw them more. The "trap" trick I'd never heard of. Wonder if crows react the same to it? Gonna have to try and see.

I bought the A6000 back at the first of May. The learning process took awhile for me and I was really unhappy with the kit lens performance. I almost sent everything back but finally realized that the problem was my recent cataract surgery - I just couldn't see well enough. Now, after four months with the camera, several more lenses to play with (all cheep with adapters) and a little better vision, I'm absolutely loving the camera. The kit lenses are pretty darned good also if I do my part. In fact, the kit lenses are as good as anything I've got so far. I will admit to not having any lens that is in the higher priced category tho'.

The only negative so far is the lack of in-body stabilization. I'm just not steady enough to get the job done well without some kind of support.

Wow, I knew someone would have an answer. Thankie.

Getty's subject is far prettier than mine. Could be the area, different species, or maybe I managed to miss the most colorful phase. Or whatever.

Anyone have any other photos of this parasite?

These were taken at about 8800' altitude in south central Colorado over a period of about 6 weeks. Does anyone know what plant it is? The resolution is not so very good on my iPad but hopefully good enough for someone to recognize.

thankie,

I reckon I need to check KEH like Kuzano suggested to get a better idea from that direction.
