I use Extensis Portfolio. It is a database made for photos and images.

http://www.extensis.com/portfolio-standalone/

At $199 it is not cheap but works better than anything I have found to date.

Considering what you had to work with I think the photos looks rather nice.
At 450' with a 2x teleconvertor I think you did well.

I also have the Nikon 50mm 1.8D. At present it is my only lens and I love it. Razor sharp and on a DX camera it acts like a 70mm which is perfect. I got lucky and found it in a second hand camera shop still in the box. The box was worn but the lens is perfect, and for $80. I am using the lens on my D200. You are going to love it!

Like sinatraman pointed out, a fast prime addiction is horribly expensive but well worth it if you can manage to do it. The positive side is cameras come and go but a good lens lasts a life time.

Get an SD to Compact Flash adapter and it should work. I use such an adapter on my D200 because SD memory is half the price of Compact Flash. As far as performance loss, well if there actually is any I do not notice it. Got mine from Amazon for about $24 but they are available all over the web. They are cheaper now and they work.

( No, I do not work for Amazon  )

I have only used Target but the results were more than acceptable. 4x6, 5x7 and 8x10 have all been fine in my opinion. The price is good also.

When you open a RAW (NEF) file in Photoshop an XMP file of the same name is created in the same directory. This XMP file stores all changes you have made. The original RAW (NEF) has not changed. In fact if you were to delete the XMP file the original RAW (NEF) file would revert back to the look it originally had. When you get the RAW (NEF) file to look as you want it simply save the file to another format like JPG, TIF ect ....! Hope you understand now.

While you do have a legal right to photograph anything viewable from a public right of way there is a potential problem. If someone were to call the Police, many Police Officers either do not know the law or simply do not care. There is always the chance of being harassed, arrested and having your camera taken or worse taken, broken or lost. Then there is having a weapon on you, even if it is legal. You sit in jail until they are ready to deal and you wait why your lawyer sorts it out. It has happened, way too many times. Sometimes it is just better to relocate. Just my opinion.

I am considering buying a Nikon Nikkor AF 70-210 F4-5.6 lens and would like to know if anyone has any experience with one. I will be using it on my D200 for bird and animal shots. Granted this lens is 10-15 years old but is in mint condition all the way around with perfect lens. All metal and solid with screws. Looks new in the photo. It is a push/pull zoom which I have never seem before. I am used to twist zooms.

Almost forgot. The seller is asking $130 but will take $100 cash.
This lens appears to sell for a low of around $89 for good condition to $200+ for mint condition on ebay. This is a local sale so I can try the lens first.

Thanks in advance for any and all assistance

I have got some really nice and clear close up shots with my Nikon 50mm 1.8D lens on my Nikon D200. This lens takes exceptionally sharp images and costs around $135.

MT Shooter

Damn! I had one and returned it because of all the bad reviews about high failure rates. You have had no trouble? I exchanged it for a Sandisk Ultra 8GB 30MS/s. It is in a D200 so speed was never and issue, I went with Sandisk because of reputation. The Sandisk cost me more for less capacity. I need to stop reading these reviews. LOL

Thanks for the reply GoofyNewfie! Sounds like this is the way the D200 is made. The seller told me it has always been that way. He told me that the switch stops half way between C and M then retracts the drive mechanism when pushed to M. I am going to buy the camera. I had a D80 up until it was stolen about a month back. I told my friend I was offered a like new D200 with 12,500 shots, battery grip, 2 batteries, strap and original box with all that came with it for $470. He told me if I did not grab it I was a fool and he was going to take it.

Thanks again!

I before I buy a used D200, in nice shape, I have a slight concern so this question is directed to D200 owners. The focus mode switch works properly. When switched from C to S nice solid click. The space between S and M is slightly larger so the switch actually stop in two places. Half way between C and M and on M. Is this normal or is something worn out that I should be concerned with. If other D200 camera are the same then fine but I am concerned.

I just acquired a mint condition D200 and it only came with a no name brand 1GB compact flash card. I need to get a new one. Can someone advise or give me an opinion of what size and speed I should buy? There are so many speed claims that I do not know what to get. I see speeds from 133x to 600x! I do not want to waste money on a speed the camera can never reach.

Thanks all
