I am looking also and have not found one for sale. B&H, Adorama, Amazon, etc. have the for Pre-order, but no one has one available to ship. Price seems to be 1069. Saw two in Vegas last month. One was 1400 and one was 1190. Guess I should have done the 1190, but didn't know they were so hard to get at the time.

My sister and daughter have Nikons, D5000 and D5200, wife and I have Canon, T5i and 70D. All of them take great photos.
I personally like the feel of the Canon, and find them more intuitive than the Nikons, but that's just me.
After messing with the wife's T5i, my sister did say she would get a Canon if she didn't have so much invested in lenses. My daughter however, is crazy about her D5200.
I mention the D5000/5200 and T5i, as they are very similar to the models you are looking at.

The 70D may be a good choice, but all the controls are different. Since you are already familiar with the Rebel controls I would also suggest looking at the T5i.
The 70D is a little different, but in my opinion, better. My wife has a T5i so I have had a lot of opportunity to shoot with both. Even with the difference, it will not be a big learning curve.
With the 70D you can make most all exposure and AF changes without removing your eye from the viewfinder or going to the menu screen.
If the approximately 450.00 difference in price and the bit of added weight is not an issue with you, I would certainly go with the 70D.

Thanks for all the info. Now have to see if I can find one.

Would like to hear from anyone with hands on experience with this lens. Reviews I have read indicate that it is at least as good as comparable lenses from Sigma and Canon for image quality, but I'm not finding much in the way of focus speed and accuracy.
Thanks,
Bill
Got a 70D for Christmas. 1st experience with Digital. The camera seems to be exactly what I want and need.
I am enrolled in a college photography class, and often get comments on how sharp my focus is.
I heard about issues with focusing on fast lenses and have not experienced that with my f1.8 50mm prime. Focus was the same with the 70D and the wife's T5i.

Biden is so wrong. Who would ever think a shotgun is best for home defense?
Biden is 100% correct that a shotgun is best for home defense. He's just a dumbass about how to deploy and use it.
A shotgun offers a better hit success rate under adverse conditions, ie. high stress, low light. The shotgun is less likely to shoot through walls and cause collateral damage, and with 00 buck it is a highly effective stopper.

Thanks for the replies. Did not buy the lens, and now don't plan to. Looking at the new Tamaron 150-600.

In Vegas this weekend a guy tried to sell me a Cyber Optics 2.2 multiplier lens that goes on the front of the standard lens to give 2.2X multiplication. I have found Cyber Optics lenses of the same type that are Wide Angle .43, but can't find anything on the tele. Anyone out there with info?? Cost was 650.00.

Yes I did use the center single point auto focus for my test.

You might try a binocular harness. They keep binos pretty solid against the chest, but give immediate access. Available at any major sporting goods store, ie. Cabelas, Sportsman's Warehouse, Bass Pro.

As a retired police officer I am permitted to carry in every state and in most conditions, excluding schools, govt. building and where posted. I exercise that almost 100% of the time.
I am a firm believer in mental preparedness, awareness of surroundings, and avoiding situations when at all possible, but I also believe in being prepared and able to defend myself should the need arise and I am unable to avoid the situation.

I just put a 50mm f1.8 on my 70D and went out in 20* to see. Shot from 3 ft. to 200 ft. at f1.8 and got sharp images. Had few that weren't, but that might have been me.
Addendum: Just tried the same as above with a T5i. Could not tell any difference in focus between the two.

Sad that Canada has more insight into the plight of our great country that 49% of our own population.

Like driving, it should be treated as a privelidge, and not a right.
I've never seen anything in the Constitution that deals with driving a car, or for that matter riding in a buggy, riding a horse or even walking. The 2nd Amendment is a right, not a priviledge.
What rights in the Constitution are you fond of and would not like to have taken away? How would you feel about someone deciding to take away or alter what you are in favor of?
