You've posted a mixture that can kill a person...you moron.

Yes. I basically posted the same. Was a bit more gentle. But you’re not wrong being miffed.

A mix of nitric acid and chlorine bleach with ammonia could be interesting. No one has ever tried it for your purposes. You could become a real pioneer.

Hope the OP realizes that’s not a cool mixture. Acid, base and Cl2 mixture could be deadly.

I’ve only been here 4 years. Taking pictures over 50 years. I’ve learned more about light, and composition and post processing and a host of other nuances to become a better photographer here. Good people who know more than I do put in a lot of time and effort to help people like me. So in a nutshell, no complaints about UHH.

We have heard that exact complaint on Borderless Prints on the Epison on UHH.
Also the limited lifespan.

Yes. I’ve only owned Canon printers and print borderless 95% of the time. Never had that problem. I’m not knocking other brands. I’ve no experience with them. Just offering my own history.

I only use OEM ink for my printers, my Canon Pro 100 has been absolutely trouble free since new (2015) and cannot imagine ever changing ink brands.
The non-branded ink that users on here seem to prefer is Precision Colors, which seems to cause less problems overall.

This discussion has been debated so many times. Seems like a 50/50 split. I’ve used LD for 20 years in several Canon printers. I have a Pro 100 also. Never had an issue. I could let the printer sit for a month. When I need it, it works fine.

Yes, another detail I’ve learned. I usually shoot at highest sync speed I can, 1/250. If I lower the shutter speed, from what I understand, more of the ambient light used will soften shadows. A wealth of useful information in all the responses. Thank you all again.

[quote=Delderby]It should be possible to fix a piece of white card, or perhaps an envelope, angled in front of the flash to direct it up down or sideways. This temporary measure has worked surprisingly well for me on occasion. I use a Meike flash. [/quo
The Godox I have has a white card that you can pull out from the top part of the flash. I didn't think that would be help but I'll try it.

You people have been so helpful. I really didn’t want to go with a bracket bc of weight snd size and it’s not often that I do this type of shooting. But I just may do it to solve the problem. The Strobosphere 350 ($30 on Amazon) and the inexpensive CB Digital - T ($25) would seem like all I need. Plus a cable of course. Amazon even has one from a place called xit that seems similar to both for 14 bucks on sale from 30.

I use a Lite Scoop device by Lite Genius, mounts on the flash, great for informal indoors, moving around. There’s a YouTube video on its use.

That looks like a perfect solution for me. There are several out there like it. Thank you for that. I did look at a YouTube video. It seems simple enough and no excess weight. Appears ideal.

I’m not enamored with bounce lighting. I’ve used it before with mixed results. I’m not eager to mount a huge bracket either but that seems like the proper approach. I don’t do a lot of the indoor stuff. Those were prom pics, and I’m running out of grandchildren for that. 😂
But hand holding the flash off a cable, for me, might be the best solution.

I really appreciate all the input here. I’m going to look into the bracket and try some of the techniques mentioned. I have gained some really good facts I wasn’t aware of previously. Thanks again for all the recommendations.

Dont ever rotate the camera, or else get a flip bracket and cable. Theres no rocket science involved. Bracket is $30, cable is usually more than that. (Pix attached.)

Sometimes I use just the cable without the bracket, hand holding the flash (result pic attached).

I see pros use this type of setup and really never knew why. Now I do. I can see how the flash is centered now on vertical shots. But in the landscape position the flash is extremely off center. Will that cause excessive shadows in that position?

I have a Canon 80D and a Godox 860 external. I find when I shoot in normal landscape mode the shots are fine. If I turn the camera 90 degrees and shoot in portrait position I get really bad shadows on a background object. A wall or whatever. I haven’t tried bouncing the flash or any other techniques. The shadows are always to the subjects right so maybe it’s the slight difference in the angle when turning the camera. Any suggestions are appreciated. I have attached 2 examples. They were taken seconds apart with no change of subject or my position.

My sentiments exactly. Why is everything under 100mm off the table?
