Besides all of the recommended 'Back-Up' info, - I would add that, as small and inexpensive SD Cards are, when one fills up. insert a new one in your camera, and save the SD cards in a 'Tiny Library'! -
I have every one that I've used since around 2000, in hopes that they will serve as a 'Just in Case' option, in hopes that they continue to hold the info on them.

Are we taking it a bit too far now ? Or is it that we have better tools ?
I see ' classic ' photos from the 50's / 60's some great portraits of stars , street life , etc .. which nowdays most photographers having taken such a shot , would class them as rejects and either throw them away or spend endless time trying to get them ' perfect ' ..
Portraits nowdays mostly have to be ' Sparkling with Eyes un naturally sharp ' .. lighting to be exact or added on later in PS , unblemished skin, etc etc ..
Are photos now just ' Too Good ' ?
Are we taking it a bit too far now ? Or is it that... (

At 75yrs young, I still have B&W Photos that I took in the 4th & 5th grades that got me interested in Photography in the first place. - Altho some are not 'Perfect', they can still bring a smile to my face, - so yeah, maybe somewhat 'Lower Standards' but if your pics bring you joy, then ENJOY them!

I need a new computer...(I did a search in here.) With technology changing so much, does anyone have any advice that is new? 16 gigs ram and 2 T. Is that adequate? Maybe something better.
Thanks...Marsha
Windows and Desktop.
This seems quite adequate, unless you are a National Geo photographer.
Along with thaty healty dose of RAM, You should insure that your new PC includes a "Dedicated" Video Card, with 4 - 6 GB of RAM, NOT an 'Integrated' video card that's 'Built-in' to the Motherboard.
( A 250GB or larger SSD, in addition to your 2TB HD would be very helpful as well. - Much quicker boot-ups of your PC and programs!) - Best to you!
Nice, - Looks like a 'Still Life' painting!
I can 'sit' in the dark, and don't have to aim, or keep it in the middle! - Quite comfy and efficient!
At 75, - It's Far more comfortable to sit, relax, and 'Let it Flow',- (or dribble).
Plus, - there's better Bladder evacuation, and, NO Overspray to clean up!
Nice shots! - I've never seen a baby Bluejay!
PH Rubin, - Sorry I got it it wrong, but Thank You for the tip. - Great Info!
(I'm not sure about how this UHH works, as I have a few photos I'd like to post, but not even sure of how, so guess I need to find the 'User Manual' and look this stuff up!)
Also don't know the diff btw 'Reply', & 'Quote Reply'.
Thanks Again, - Pat
Curious, - What DO you use for organizing?
Curious, - Why this article on a Photography Forum? - (altho the info is appreciated, but still - - )
Not 'Sure', but I signed up with Google Photos, and it did exactly what you asked about. - It searched several PC's and laptops, then added every photo on them to the 'Collection'.
(The only thing then, was discovering that I had almost 100GB of photos, and had to buy additional storage,
($12.00 a year for 100GB)
All in all, - I like it and it actually Organizes your photos by Year,& Date, and - - if you have a Google Home Nest, you can ask it to 'Play Photos from say, 2012', and it will act as a Photo Frame, and play that years pics!
Thanks to all of you who have put in their expertise and experience to help me with my request for info on the Canon 80D. - I will now be quiet and enjoy the camera, and not be overly concerned with its past history!
Funny this should come up, as I just received an invitation to 'Re-Subscribe' to O.P.!
It IS unfortunate that there are almost no 'Paper' magazines in Photography anymore.
(I am still savoring my last issue of Pop Photo!)
Hi to All, - I just got what I hope is a 'Killer Deal' on a Canon 80D for $600.00 (18 - 55mm lens incl.) from Craigslist. - It appears brand new, works fine, and so far, - I am thrilled with it!
My Question is: - How do I find the 'Shutter Count' - and If it is a USA, or Import Model.
(I tried one method and it says 'Shutter Count Disabled by Factory'!)
As far as USA or Import, - No Info,
so if anyone knows how to obtain this information, please help. - Thanks, - Pat
I'm not sure about those in particular, but the Canon Lens I Drool about, and Wish for, is this one:
Canon MP-E 65mm f/2.8 1-5X Macro Lens. - It's about $1000.00, but is a 5X Zoom Macro, and is
considered the 'Gold Standard' among Pros, - (so I've read)
