Thanks, maybe I should organize my camera equipment during this "quiet" time, except my wife is home too. Instead, I think I'll stick to going through all the books lying around.
A few years back we had a rental car stolen on a trip to San Francisco. We have Chubb insurance (homeowners) and they covered everything: extensive camera equipment, several laptops, some minor jewelry and a nice pair of binoculars (it all was locked in the trunk). Filed a police report and one with Hertz. Nothing ever turned up. Chubb covered it all less a $500 deductible. We felt lucky/glad we had it.
I bought a refurbished D850 from Band H and am very glad I did! Just make sure they send all the stuff they say they will. I didn't get a battery (they sent one when I complained) or any digital cards (I had an extra, but still need the larger one).
For me, it all depends. I usually take far more than I use, especially for short trips. If I leave the truck, it mostly depends on the weather and how long. One thing I often take that hasn't been mentioned is a compass (I've been seriously lost in the dead of winter, in a snow storm). Fun topic-thanks! Bill
