Yes, a real shame. I flew out of there and a bit south for a couple of years back in the early 60's. The icing can be a bitch at times.

My neighbor's son put in several K$ very early on, lost the key and more than $500K at the peak. Never got a dime back. Argh!

A man after my own heart. Same stuff I carry, different brands and caliber though. Just picked up a Taurus GX4 in 9mm. Smaller and lighter for all day. Thanks for the excellent image.

Microsoft Windows 10 or Google?

I haven't had an urge or need to update to Windows11. Lately I've been using the Windows browser and liking its performance. This is after being a dedicated Google browser user for the last 10 years or so. Anyhow, what are your experiences and preferences?

Like many above, I use Firefox almost exclusively. I don't use Google for search but Duck Duck Go, which is privacy oriented and does not keep your data. Another privacy search engine I use is Startpage.com.

Or not.. I believe the 737 is not fly by wire, but has both mechanically actuated and hydraulic actuation of flight controls. Thus, the crashes overseas killing all those people likely could have been avoided by proper training of flight crews. Seems like those guys never hear of pulling a circuit breaker which would have cut off the runaway trim that killed them.

External drive housings with power bricks are available from many online as well as brick and mortar stores. Just slip in any size drive and go. They are cheap, approx $20-$30, and work with most any usb port, both Apple and Windows.

Well put Walen. I too believe the world is a dangerous place and recently obtained a carry permit in the Peoples Republic of Maryland. It took the Supreme Court decision of early this year to turn Maryland from a "may issue" state to a "shall issue" state. Because of the location out alone int the county, we have established a security force at our church. I and a couple of other guys now provide security for the congregation.

All the HD and Lowes replacement stuff is UL rated and works fine. Yes, it's cheap, but I have used that stuff for 60+ years with no catastrophic failure. Think of how many millions are sold from the big box stores yearly. Over these many years, I have had a very few fail, but always just stopped working. Replaced them with more $1-$2 item and kept on truckin.

I have a bunch of flashlights too. I carry one in my trouser pocket every day. The typical problem with the cheap ones is the very cheap switches all made in China. But, for $8 I just use till it quits and buy another one. The newest ones I just bought were $5 with no switch using CR123 batteries. Just turn the head of the light to make it go and very bright. Another $5 Amazon item. BTW, I have been using rechargeable batteries from Amazon and never yet had a leak. Regular Alkaline batteries almost always leak if you leave them in a device for a long time without use.
Good luck,
Dave

Thanks again Thuan. The projector I picked up last week worked fine, (after I found out my slide trays were a different model). The gentleman offering the free slide projectors is a prince and I really appreciate him offering them to the forum group.

For the last two days I’ve had two different people from a company called WEBROOT LLC try to send payment requests for $548.39 the first time and $579.40 the second time. I’ve never had any interaction with these people and believe that they are just scammers. I logged in to my account and canceled each request as they came in. Paypal gives you only 24 hours to dispute it and when you call the number Paypal dispute has given for contact it just clicks and goes back to dial tone. So i logged in and cancelled the requests and filed a complaint within their system. I’ve changed the password and security settings and set up 2 factor authentication. Hopefully this will fix it, if not, I’m closing that account.
My intent here is to caution others about what is going on so that they don’t get taken advantage of by these criminals.

Hi,
Please note that Webroot.com is an internet security company. They are legit and I have been using their antivirus software for years. I suspect that someone is hijacking their name to scam people.
Look up Webroot.com and see for yourself.
Sorry you have had that scam put on your account. I had my email hacked a year and a half ago and it took me ages t o clean up the mess. The hackers dumped all of my contacts and stored emails which caused no end of grief.
Good luck on clearing up the scam.

I've use Photodex Pro Show software for years but they've gone out of business. I'm wondering if anyone has had success with any other slideshow software?

Have you tried any of the free ones like Fastone Image Viewer?
