I want to get a small camera to carry in trouser or jacket pocket. My first choice was the Fujifilm X100V, but it seems that Fujifilm is not making that camera, or even taking orders for it right now.
After considering other cameras I’ve pretty much narrowed down to the M4/3 Panasonic Lumux G100 with the 12-32mm lens and the APS-C Nikon Z fc with the Z DX 16-50mm lens. With a strong lean toward the Panasonic.
I have used a M4/3 camera and lens a couple of time in the past, but I am not very familiar with that system. I would like some insight, from those who used one or both of those cameras, especially the Panasonic.

Have you looked at the Sony RX100 Model III? It fits in a shirt pocket.

$750 for a pocket camera???

SO glad I got my wife a S-60 years ago...
My H-1 was only $400, and I had a $200 gift certificate.

I guess I'll really hate it when I have to replace my T1i.....

Your not going to like this but take a look at a smart phone, Samsung 9+. DPreview gave it high marks 85%. It has an adjustable aperture and a telephoto lens, plus you get a GPS so you won't get lost.

I have used M4/3, both Panasonic (Lumix), and Olympus. I have also tried the Nikon Zfc, being a former Nikon user from the 1960s. Of all three I would immediately rule out the Zfc as it is far from being a "pocket" camera. Of the other 2, either the Panasonic, Lumix G100, or the Olympus Pen series (E-PL7 - E-PL10), can be considered pocketable with the 14-42mm Pan Cake lens. Other than that, all three are excellent and will provide good results.

Thank you, I’ll look at the 14-42mm lens.

Look at the Panasonic Lumix ZS100, pocket sized, 20MP, 25-250 zoom. It is the many generations replacement of my little ZS6 I got from Costco ages ago. That ZS6 lives in the pocket of my jacket or shirt when I go anywhere, and has ever since I bought it. Back then, the ZS6 was under $200 but, today, the ZS100 is $397.99 in either black or silver and gray (ZS100S).

The 4/3 mentioned would need a BIG pocket, like at least the pants with military style cargo pockets. The ZS100(S) fits a shirt or hand size jacket pocket.

It depends a lot on what is most important to you. The Fuji is an APS-C model. That sensor is bigger than the M4/3, which in turn is bigger than the 1" of the RX100.
On the other hand, the Fuji has a fixed 23 mm FIXED lens (NO zoom) while those other models mentioned have zoom lenses, some fixed, others are an interchangeable lens camera (ILC). The G100 is an ILC.
As far as pocketable, the G100 or Zfc with lens will probably not be pocketable.
Have you considered the Panasonic Lumix DC-LX100 II ? It is an M4/3 model with a 10.9 to 35mm (35mm Equivalent Focal Length: 24 to 75mm) FIXED zoom lens and is more pocketable than the G100.

Compare all 4 here (I suspect the dimensions on the B&H website for the ILC models are body only):

My pocket camera is a Canon G1X III. It's a bit pricey for a pocket camera but it is an excellent camera and it has an APS-C sensor and it records excellent quality images.

You are welcome.

Here is one of the first shots I took with the ZS6 years ago*. I am going with the current ZS100, besides more MP is also better IQ quality.
The lenses are Leica designs, seems Japan has what is considered the best quality glassmaking sand for lenses and first Leica bought sand, then had Panasonic make the glass and finally even grind many of the lenses. Using the Leica designs on their cameras was part of the deal.

*The flower was in a flower bed at the pickup line for a school our daughter went to years ago. I took the picture out the car window and the flower looks translucent because the sunlight was reflecting off the stucco wall behind it.

My wife and I both use our (Samsung) phones as "pocket cameras".
She hasn't had her S-60 pocket camera out in years......
