I had a T3i and it served all of my needs very well but I had an itch to upgrade. The local camera dealer where I bought the camera originally would not offer me anything on a trade in. Their competitor gave me $200 in a trade for an 80D which I also love. Cameras & technology are changing faster than cell phones these days.
I see lots of very good suggestions here. I have always enjoyed some time at Lake Union Park (very southern end of Lake Union) taking some pictures of the sea planes taking off and landing.
I believe that most of the Biltmore exhibit is outdoors with no restrictions. I will use my 50mm prime and my 24-105mm. I also have a Tamron 180 Macro that I may play with. I think that this is going to be a fun 2 days.
As many times as I have been to Asheville over the years I have never been to the NC Arboretum. May try to work in a little time there but might have to save that for another trip. And then there are the FEI World Equestrian Games going on at the same time in Tryon, NC and we will be driving right by there. Too much to see and do and so little time! Western NC has so much to offer.
I have been to the Biltmore several times over the years but never to the roof top. Great picture.
These are beautiful photographs. We have been to the Biltmore a number of times but are really looking forward to this trip. My son is a glass blower and at one time worked for Dale Chihuly. I will let my wife take all of the iPhone pictures and I will stick to the Canon 80-D but I am not sure that I am capable of taking pictures of this quality. In any case it will be a fun trip.
Little to no restrictions as long as photos are for personal use. Most of the exhibit is outdoors & we will go both during the day & at night. I have a wide range of lenses but like your idea of using the 50mm prime.
Planning a nigh time time tour the Chihuly Exhibit in mid-September. Any suggestions for taking photographs of this exhibit? I have both a Canon 80-D and an iPhone.
I am a Canon 80D person but my local camera store directed me to simply download to my iPhone and use a Canon app for this purpose. They were very helpful in setting everything up and demonstrating how it worked. Surely Nikon has a similar app.
I agree. I do not plan on changing lens in adverse conditions. On the Camino walk in Spain I prefer to take only one light weight lens and make do with it. I will look into the Op/Tec products. Thank you.
Yes, my wife thinks that I am crazy for considering carrying the extra weight of the DSLR for 75-100 miles but a friend of mine who has done it several times much prefers that to his iPhone because of what he can do with the big camera.
I have a trip to the NC Outer Banks in June and will be walking part of the Camino de Santiago in Spain in September. I would like to take my Canon 80D/24-105mm but would like advice on how to protect the camera and lens from sand, dust and rain. Would it be crazy to leave the 80D home in September and just use my Coolpix S9700 to save the weight? Other recommendations?
