Nice, were you trackside or in the crowd? I was doing mostly video but took the Nikon out too.

Interesting weekend. At the photographers meetings, we were told to watch out for rattle snakes and copperheads and that someone had seen a 7 footer recently. Saturday, when I was talking to the woman that brought the crew to do the live footage of the race, she told me that one of the guys that ran the fiber optics for her crew was on the outside of the track and saw a few snakes.

Later in the day, that guy was close to us and showed photos he took of the rattlers he saw in the prior 2 days and that day. He had some photos on his phone... one a black timber rattler with a brown one, one trying to eat the dead squirrel he tossed to it, one with its head raised and a couple others. And those were just the ones he photographed.

One of the photographers said he won't even go to the outside of the track after seeing one on the track (outer edge).

There is nothing like the sound of a Porsche 911 RSR accelerating out of a corner and up a hill at 7,500 RPM (or Ford GT or Corvette C7R). Lots of heat distortion in the last one.

I just recently found this site. I have SO MUCH to learn. I had an HP laptop that i could pull photos off my camera, but it finally gave out. Needing something quickly I bought a nice little hp chromebook and did not notice there was no usb port to fit my camera cord. so when i have something I want to mail I have to go to walgreens and print off those pics. Yes i KNOW i should have taken more time. SO, is this SD card of which you speak the little 3/4 inch square red "chip" i take out and put in the drug store machine to pull up my pics?? I have used the camera 6 years, deleted a lot of pictures and just keep going. Is this what you are talking about that I should have extras on hand --- be kind, I have never asked questions before !

Yes and it's called a memory card, SDXC card or SD card. Most cameras will take 32-64 GB memory cards (aka SD or SDXC cards). If your camera is capable of recording video or you take fast action photos, the fastest cards are best.

A good example of a 64 GB fast SDXC card is an example of a fast card - https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=9SIA12K6KF9945&ignorebbr=1&nm_mc=KNC-GoogleMKP-PC&cm_mmc=KNC-GoogleMKP-PC-_-pla-_-Memory+%28Flash+Memory%29-_-9SIA12K6KF9945&gclid=CjwKCAjwp7baBRBIEiwAPtjwxO-c-owr0fPKrTdTa_ZFEq0lzTeDqNdE-p8pHQDnR7lbArT9OpJukhoC6GYQAvD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds

That card is also made in 32 GB - https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=9SIA12K6KF9945&ignorebbr=1&nm_mc=KNC-GoogleMKP-PC&cm_mmc=KNC-GoogleMKP-PC-_-pla-_-Memory+%28Flash+Memory%29-_-9SIA12K6KF9945&gclid=CjwKCAjwp7baBRBIEiwAPtjwxO-c-owr0fPKrTdTa_ZFEq0lzTeDqNdE-p8pHQDnR7lbArT9OpJukhoC6GYQAvD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds

If your Chromebook has USB ports you can use an SD card reader to import them into the Chromebook if it has enough available space (or, plug your camera into the usb port and imort them that way). If it doesn't, you could get an external hard drive to store your photos on and view on the Chromebook (there are external hard drives that can import photos from an SD/SDXC card or you'd have to import them into your Chromebook, then export them to the external drive).

Clouds and snow have similar issues. Any automated exposure tries to get the 18% gray white balance. Its been a long time since my last class or seminar, but I seem to remember that you should over expose 1 to 2 stops to get the white, without blowing out the details." Quote

If you find a super bright led flashlight, you might try shining it through a white cloth (or small umbrella used for diffusing flash) and see if it causes the light to be more like a flood light rather than a narrow spotlight.

I have been out of photography for quite a long time and am just now attempting to get back into it, therefore; may I ask you what is it that is so special about the Tamron 159-600 lens? Do you have any test results, specs or reviews on the lens that you may pass onto me ? What might be the best price tag on this lens? Also, if you don't mind my asking, what DSLR is considered to be the hot item these days? Is the "same ole - same ole" Canon vs Nikon battle still going on? If so, which one is on top these days?

The camera that I currently have is probably obsolete these days and the camera is a Nikon D-810 which I purchased new from B&H back in 2015. I have several high quality Nikon lenses for it and the prize lens in the group is my Nikon AF-S NIKKOR 200mm f/2G ED VR II Lens with amenities such as -F Mount Lens/FX Format, Aperture Range: f/2 to 22, Three ED Elements & One Super ED Element, Nano Crystal & Super Integrated Coating, Silent Wave Motor AF System, Nikon VR II Image Stabilization, Internal Focus; Manual Focus Override,Weather-Sealed; Meniscus Front Lens, Detachable, Rotating Tripod Collar, Rounded 9-Blade Diaphragm, Internal Focus; Manual Focus Override, Weather-Sealed; Meniscus Front Lens, Detachable, Rotating Tripod Collar and lastly, a Rounded 9-Blade Diaphragm.. Needless to say, this is one heck of a lens and B&H is currently offering it at a price nearing $6,000.

I will appreciate any information (the latest info about the front runner DSLR camera these days): Info from you or from any other member on this forum.

Thank you,
~ Slade ~
