Interesting weekend. At the photographers meetings, we were told to watch out for rattle snakes and copperheads and that someone had seen a 7 footer recently. Saturday, when I was talking to the woman that brought the crew to do the live footage of the race, she told me that one of the guys that ran the fiber optics for her crew was on the outside of the track and saw a few snakes.

Later in the day, that guy was close to us and showed photos he took of the rattlers he saw in the prior 2 days and that day. He had some photos on his phone... one a black timber rattler with a brown one, one trying to eat the dead squirrel he tossed to it, one with its head raised and a couple others. And those were just the ones he photographed.

One of the photographers said he won't even go to the outside of the track after seeing one on the track (outer edge).

There is nothing like the sound of a Porsche 911 RSR accelerating out of a corner and up a hill at 7,500 RPM (or Ford GT or Corvette C7R). Lots of heat distortion in the last one.

Plenty of photo ops at Limerock. Photos only tell a small part of the race. From the people in the viewing areas to the accessible garage and paddock area, plenty to see and shoot. The race itself is always enhanced by not only viewing, but the sounds, vibrations, and smells bring the whole experience together. The total access at the event is what makes sports car races fun to attend.
Nice shots. I always found that due to the time of day that the race is run, the sun is not your friend.

Yes but this year the GT cars ran from 3:00 to 5:40 so the light was better to photograph in. The practice, qualifying and first race was all late morning to early afternoon though. And, though I got some decent photos, I was mainly doing video this year.

Love these shots. The only thing that would have made it better is if Garcia and Magnussen could have pulled it out, although I think Garcia set a new track record.

But I LIKE it when Ford or Porsche wins

Three drivers broke the former track record Ford, Chevy and Porsche but I think you're correct that Garcia had the fastest time.
