I have been out of photography for quite a long time and am just now attempting to get back into it, therefore; may I ask you what is it that is so special about the Tamron 159-600 lens? Do you have any test results, specs or reviews on the lens that you may pass onto me ? What might be the best price tag on this lens? Also, if you don't mind my asking, what DSLR is considered to be the hot item these days? Is the "same ole - same ole" Canon vs Nikon battle still going on? If so, which one is on top these days?

The camera that I currently have is probably obsolete these days and the camera is a Nikon D-810 which I purchased new from B&H back in 2015. I have several high quality Nikon lenses for it and the prize lens in the group is my Nikon AF-S NIKKOR 200mm f/2G ED VR II Lens with amenities such as -F Mount Lens/FX Format, Aperture Range: f/2 to 22, Three ED Elements & One Super ED Element, Nano Crystal & Super Integrated Coating, Silent Wave Motor AF System, Nikon VR II Image Stabilization, Internal Focus; Manual Focus Override,Weather-Sealed; Meniscus Front Lens, Detachable, Rotating Tripod Collar, Rounded 9-Blade Diaphragm, Internal Focus; Manual Focus Override, Weather-Sealed; Meniscus Front Lens, Detachable, Rotating Tripod Collar and lastly, a Rounded 9-Blade Diaphragm.. Needless to say, this is one heck of a lens and B&H is currently offering it at a price nearing $6,000.

I will appreciate any information (the latest info about the front runner DSLR camera these days): Info from you or from any other member on this forum.

Thank you,
~ Slade ~

I think one of the 'Front Runners' , is exactly the kit that you have. That is some lens that Nikon made for you.

He really did do it finely! Good choice. Hope it's as good as the 150-600.

Hi Halkeye,
I keep reading reviews about the Tamron150-600 mm G2 lens-for Nikon and going back and forth with "Yes, No, and convincing myself and (my long-suffering but patient) spouse that I really need it.
I will be looking for your reactions and opinions.
Best luck with it,
Frank

Finely or finally. Either way, you’ll enjoy the lens! Hoping that it’s a 150-600 because the 9mm at the short end does matter.

@Slade1 - Ohhhh, the "old" D810! You need to get with the modern age and rush right out and get the D850; then you can start to take really awesome photos with that amazing 200mm f2 lens you've got there!

Not to worry, I kinda knew you meant 150-600. Some people are too anal.

I went with the the Tamron 100-400. The 150-600 was just too shaky in my hands, but I did like the added reach.
