Good morning, I’m looking to upgrade to a better photo printer and need some assistance. I have a $1000 budget and am tossed between the Canon 200 or 300 and or The Epson 700 or 900. I print a lot of Portraits 4x6’s weekly and some 8x10,s and would like to print some a little bigger. I read so many reviews and now I question myself if I’m picking the best one. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you

The Canon PRO-1000 I own (2). But something else to think about is profiling your printer for the different paper you may use and the monitor. Years ago I bought a Canon large format printer an iPF-8100 and was not happy with the results that I was getting. I called the company I bought it from, they told me the printer was working fine, but needed to profile my monitor and paper. They gave me a name to call, the person came out and profiled my monitor and the paper I had. The difference was night and day. (this was about 15 years ago) I ended up buying my own profiling system from Xrite.

According to Steve Perry, the Z9 is a good camera with some very nice features. I'm all set to order one as soon as they cut the price in half.

Own 2, best camera that I have owned or used. When the D6 came out I was hoping that it would be the D5 and D850 combined, it wasn't. Z9 is the D850 and D6 combined except for high ISO so I kept my D6 for poor lighting conditions. The only downside for me it 20fps, when shooting football with the D6 I'd shoot about 500-1000 now with the Z9 the other night I shot a little over 2700. The D6 at 14fps vs Z9 20fps. I have to admit I do capture more great shots. If you wait for it you will never catch it.

Thinking about buying.....
Would like to hear from all you
Z9 users....If you are happy with the camera...What you shoot ...pro or amateur
Thanks

Got my first Z9 last January and my second one in June. Had D850 and D6. The D6 was for sports and action and the D850 for every thing else. Why 2, so I don't have to be changing lens in the field and I get better results. Still have the D6 for the high ISO ability when I am shooting in very poor light conditions. Am I HAPPY with the Z9, I would not have bought the second one. Still learning some of the features of the Z9. I think you will be very happy with it. If I were you though I think about what you really need the body to do.

You already have great camera in the D850, why not use it as your every day camera and spend the money on a high end lens. The 2 things the D850 could not do for me was high ISO and fps. The D6 did that for me but had a small sensor. So the D6 was for sports and action the D850 was for everything else. I did own a D4, D5, D6 and the D850 and now have 2 Z9. The Z9 is the D850 and D6 combine.

Not sure, but I think he wants the file name on the photo, maybe?

How to place the file name on the photo in bulk where you can see the photo and the file name. This weekend alone I shot over 4,500 pics of football. With my Z9s at 20fps I get the shots but with so much not so good and right now I don't have a lot of time to weed out the junk. I put the photos in MP4 video and they give me the time stamp where they see the photos they would like. They like the video because it take less time to view the photos but it still takes me time to find the photos. If the photo had the file name on it then they could just give me the file name.

Next year will possibly be the best chance most Americans alive today will ever have of seeing a total eclipse of the sun. It will be visible through a huge swath of the Southwest - where the weather in October is often clear and "sunny". Large cities such as San Anotnio and Albuquerque will be plunged into darkness - for a few minutes anyway. The relative location of the moon is expected to create a "ring of fire" effect during this eclipse.

A guide from "Mr. Eclipse" on photographing a solar eclipse: http://mreclipse.com/SEphoto/SEphoto.html

I am looking forward to it. The paths of some of the past few eclipses visible in the US have been in areas and seasons with high expectations of bad weather which have ended up dampening the event.

Drove to Rily Oregon for the eclipse Aug 21 2017. The landscape pic is where I shot the eclipse from and second is the results which hangs at my office. Making plans for 2024.

I wanted to take a drone on both of my trips to Africa. I checked on the laws in Namibia and South Africa and was told to leave my drone at home. Apparently, poachers use drones to locate elephants and rhinos. They can even use location data from other drones. I chose to respect the request and left the drone at home.

On my last trip to South Africa I took my Phantom 4 Pro. I had been to South Africa 4 times and my last trip was June of 2019 and all my trips were with a Veterinay group that went to different preserves to help the owners with there animals. I flew from South Africa to Victory Fall and was not allowed to bring my drone in. They made me put it in a locker. I got it back when I left. A couple months back I gave the drone to a preserve so they could hunt poachers. Poachers now kill rinos whether or not they have a horn, because they don't want waste time tracking a rino that does not have a horn. I bought a Mavic 3 and the jpeg photos are much better, 7meg vs 14meg. The picture I shot of lions was at distance and still they were aware of the drone. The second pic I zoomed in so you could see the lions looking at the drone.

Hi my Hog friends. I know there are a lot more drone pilots out there. Please post photos taken with your drone, and drone information. Make, Model, etc. Thanks to all. And all BE SAFE!!

Tom

The first two pictures were shot with a DJI Mavic 3 the third one was shot with a DJI Phantom 4 Pro V2.0 back in 2018. The forth pictures was shot in South Africa, if you look real hard you can see two lions. I never got close because I didn't want to spoke the animals. I donated the Phantom 4 to a South African reserve, the poacher now kill the rinos weather or not they have a horn so they don't track a rino who's horn has already been cut off. The reserves now use the drones to hunt the poachers. The Phantom pictures are JPEG and only 3.6 megs in size. The Mavic 3 JPEG file size is 14 megs in size. You get a MUCH MUCH better picture. Drones are extremely dangerous if one is not careful. Any body can fly todays drones. If I am flying near people I tether my drone with a string. EXAMPLE: If I use 50' of string I stand no closer than 75' to any person. Built my first drone in the mid 90s using 4 RC helicopter heads, it took 2 of us to fly it and it was a hand full to fly.

How can I be very wrong when you are saying the same thing I am saying?
In you own words, Z is a better tool for the job as is the better lens.
Always better to use the right tool for the job correct?
By the way, my previous response you are replying to, was not about the Z or D8XX. It was in support of another reply.
Are you saying the Z is a multitool? Try mounting that on a helmet and go skiing. Better yet on its own, go diving.
Wont work as well for those does it?

Are we talking videographer or Photographer. If you could mount a Z to helmet you would get better results than with a gopro. Even if I could mount my Z9 to a helmet not sure I would being the Z9 is 10 times more expensive. In the past I was a scuba diver and took my D4 down and got great results and yes it was in a water proof case and if I could still dive my Z9 would go in a water proof case. When you say on its own I think you are saying with out a water proof case. I think a water proof case is cheaper than a gopro and you will get better results. I got a DJI Mavic 3 so I can chase a skier down hill or fly backwards filming the skier comming down the hill and you don't get the shake rattle and roll. It can also chase people, bicycles and cars in both directions. It boils down to the results you are looking for. I have always bought the best equipment aviable so I could only blame myself if the results were poor. When I am driving long distances I mount my Z9 on the dash board and video.

I have been watching the used prices on D6's and they falling into the 4,400.00 range. The Z9 at 5,500.00 is making it a hard sale for those that want to upgrade to the Z9. Just thinking it wouldn't be good throwing money into the D6 when the Z9 has so much to offer. Makes me glad I never bought a new D6 but if the D6 keeps trending downward I just might pick one up.

I have both a D6 and D850 and have purchased my second Z9. The Z9s have made my photo shoots so much easier. The Z9 not only gives you fast speed but the resolution of the D850. You may not need the resolution of the D850 but I print large panos (44" by 15' is my largest). If you don't need the resolution the D6 would be a fine camera.

I had a D6 and now I got the Nikon Z9 to love the camera better. I traded all but 2 items of the DLSR era. My 14-24mm F2.8 Nikon lens and my Nikon D4 which has been converted to Infared. I only use now my Z9 with Z lenses big difference. Glad I switched.

Just got my second Z9 and having owned the D850 and D6. The D6 was for sports and action and the D850 for everything else. The reason for the second Z9 is that I now don't have to change lens when I am out shooting. One has 24-70 Z lens and on the other 70-200 or 100-400 Z lens. Don't have to worry about getting dirt on the lens or sensor.
