I have a pc with a hard drive that blew up. I am now going over to a MacBook Pro to do all my images. My external plug in hard drive was formatted for the pc and while I can see the images when I plug it into the mac, I cannot even move them to another IOS compatible drive. I need to reformat the SanDisk and am thinking any good computer tech (not me) can transfer the images to another drive, reformat the SanDisk and then transfer them back. I am nevertheless worried about this. Does anyone have a comment on this process, ie, how complicated it is and whether the SD could "fail"? Thanks for your comments.

Consider the Migration Assistant. I just used it to transfer the contents of an MBP 2017 to a ‘21 via a Time Machine backup and it was amazing. MA will read other drives and it is a non-destructive transfer. If MA can read your old drive it can likely transfer the files.
It’s probably helpful if you read about the MA software on the Apple Support pages.

Having trouble getting snapbridge app on iPhone 8 to connect with my Nikon d7500. Any suggestions appreciated. Thanks

Apologies for the routine question. Are you running the most recent versions of SnapBridge and iOS? The older versions of SnapBridge were quite twitchy.

MacRumors has it that a new MacBook Pro 16" will be coming out this fall. https://www.macrumors.com/2021/08/11/new-macbook-pro-and-apple-watch-models-spotted/

Yes. Almost certainly. So the choice is wait a short while for the older machine to lower in price or wait a bit longer and purchase a real rocket of a machine with the next series chip.

I’m waiting.

What settings do you use for BIF on the Nikon Z6ii

I’m interested in a sensible answer as well. Shooting mirrorless is not the same as shooting DSLR.

Acoarst it makes sense. But that has little pull hereabouts.

I will be travelling to Paris next month and Im worried about taking my new Leica.
Unfortunately, Paris has is rife with pickpockets, bag snatchers, and muggins.
It is unfortunate, but still worth going.
At age 67 I would have a problem keeping up with a kid that grabs my camera bag.
My daughter who is travelling with me says the reason to have a camera is to take pictures. I can’t disagree with that.
I would appreciate any opinion from the form Thank you in advance

Consider the Pacsafe Carrysafe 200 strap. Avail at B&H, Adorama and others. But you do risk injury if the would-be thief continues to pull on the strap rather than forfeit the attempted theft.

Do you have the sport breathe or curve breathe? Does the camera slide on the strap with a dedicated metal ring. It appears so in the video. Also, do you have any difficulty with the under arm strap coming loose? In some reviews I read this was a problem with the newer models. Thanks!

With regard to your last question, the updated models feature an underarm strap with a carabiner-like clip to attach it to the connection on the portion of the strap over one’s scapula.

The Breathe is a fine product.

[quote=robertjerl]I have owned both versions of the Tamron and in the case of the G2 I have the 1.4x Tamron made for it. It becomes an f/9 wide open which means AF is erratic and iffy. I have tried it with Canon 5DIV, 7DII, 80D, 90D - 80D barely will AF and not reliable, the three others it hunts and sometimes will not AF. All of these bodies are F/8 AF just like your D500.

I have the G2 and have shot it with the D500. Works quite well. Your poor experience on any Canon is not surprising to me. And on my D500 the exif read f/8.

I ordered an accessory on Monday in the early afternoon and decided to upgrade the shipping to ‘Next Business Day’. The item shipped sometime in late afternoon and arrived by Tuesday mid-morning.

The point of the post is that from the consumer’s perspective, expedited shipping of one form or another is only effective if the shipper strives to box items in an expedited fashion, as did Adorama.

Kudos to Adorama!

Naysayers and detractors need not respond.

I use a Hoodman rubber eyepiece for glasses that eliminated the problem. These also reduce light entering the viewfinder when shooting.

Thank you for sharing that. I've been meaning to get around to it on my D500. Your discovery will save me lots of frustration, and will probably avoid a divorce since my husband usually takes care of loading my firmware updates on my cameras.

My pleasure.

It helps to read the instructions given by Nikon. I reread them each time I update because I often forget what steps I did the last time.

Indeed. No mention of this on the NIKON firmware update website page.

UNDOCUMENTED OBSTACLE....

I'd term it a feature but it's not. The SD slot must be designated as primary to update the firmware from the SD slot.
