This image is another attempt to create the Orton Effect. I would love your opinion, good or bad, and maybe suggestings to improve it. Thank you kindly for taking the time to view and make thoughtful and honest comments. I take my photos in South Eastern Ct. most with a Canon 7D M II or 5D M IV and Canon 100 to 400II, or Sigma 24 to 105. THANK YOU.

If this were mine to play with, I'd think about dropping the train stop shed and going with the right hand image of. the train itself.
I find the shed is too strong a compositional element and is totally dominating the overall image.

The train and tracks form a great leading line composition that really does show off the on rushing train and its column of steam.

What do you think?

Essex Steam Train. My attempt to create an Orton effect photo. Most of the UHH group know what it is, but it is new to me. The effect combines both a soft ethereal, dreamy look combined with a few sharp focal points. At least, that is what I think. I would love to know what you honestly think. Have a super fantastic day. Photos are taken in South Eastern Ct. with a Canon 5D M or II 7D M II and Canon 100 to 400II or Sigma 24-105. THANK YOU

This a Juvenile Tree Swallow. I was fortunate to run across a huge flock of swallows drinking from a small puddle. I was able to capitalize by slowly driving within forty ft. of the commotion, which lasted for over an hr. I took around four thousand pictures, of which only about 100 were usable; the hardest part was when I got home trying to figure out which ones to keep. Have a super fantastic day, Photos are taken in South Eastern Ct. with a Canon 5D M or II 7D M II and Canon 100 to 400II, THANK YOU.

Knowing just how skittish turkeys are, I just have to ask,
did you have to wear camo or take any extraordinary measures to get such a great shot?

Bravo Zulu

Nothing extraordinary! We feed them and they come running when they see me but getting them to fly is almost impossible. Thanks!
Stay focused, Sherwood

Great shot of a rare event. As others have mentioned, why the tight crop?

This is the last photo in a series of about five photos flying around a house; the rest are not cropped as much.

This is a juvenile Hen Wild Turkey is one of the largest birds in American, and while they can fly, they rarely do. Turkeys prefer to walk or run; after photographing them for five years, I have all but given up trying to get a decent flight shot. Turkeys mostly fly in low light when going and coming from roosting high in the trees (need lots of light for good flight shots), except for deep snow, then as I found out, they have to fly. Thank you kindly

To all my Hedgehog friends and relatives, I pray you are safe and secure. I hope in a little way; my photography helps alleviate the monotony of self quarantined or as I like to say house arrest. We are resilient, and with God's help will get through it.
Drake Green-winged Teal, in breeding plumage! These colorful ducks that can be wary hard to get close enough to get a photograph. Look for them in brackish and freshwater marshes where there is dense vegetation. These are dabbling duck and the smallest duck in North America, I appreciate those who take the time to view and make thoughtful and honest comments. Another lucky shot is getting a Widgeon and a Gadwall in one photo. All and all, it's been a slow year for duck photography locally. I think the unusually warm weather contributed to the wild birds relocating at least that's my story, and I'm sticking to it. I appreciate those who take the time to view and make thoughtful and honest comments. All my bird and nature photos are taken in South Eastern Ct. most with a Canon 7D Mark II or 5D Mark IV and Canon 100 to 400II THANK YOU
