You might want to consider Stunning Digital Photography by Tony Northrup. It is available on Amazon for less than $10 and is well rated.

I keep having problems with the kbd shortcuts in PSE. I had hoped that ver 14 would eliminate the problem but not so. You can be working away and they will suddenly no longer work. Then they seem to kick in again and everything is ok for a while. I am on Windows 7. I have looked on the internet but there does not seem to be any definitive solution. Any suggestions?

I would recommend Anti Twin - it is very good and comprehensive.

If you plan to use this type of software then I would recommend that you do so before you begin any process with LR.

Once you begin with LR you should always use LR ONLY to move and or delete images.

LR keeps a record of the location of each image and if you move or delete that image with another program then LR will no longer know where to find that image and you will have multiplied your current problems.

I've also heard of people using a light table. Placing the slide on the light table and then taking a picture with a digital camera on a tripod. I have not tried this since all of my slides have been lost over the years. I would think that a macro lens would be a big help too. Just random thoughts . . . .

Very nice Pat. The old locomotives showed a level of pride, craftsmanship and art that is sorely missing in today's locomotives. Beautiful shots.

You might also want to check out the books by Tony Northrup. I don't do books but his books (both ebooks and hard copy) are available and highly rated on Amazon. Either the ebook or hard copy have a generous number of video tutorials included.

Good luck.

Just a quick thought. Have you tried to reinstall the Canon Image Browser?

Thanks for responding. I tend to agree with you but I have spent hours trying to find the change that has occurred in Canon Image browser. I have run out of ideas. I can manually rename each folder as I load it into the computer and get what I want for the sort.

It is only My Pictures that seems to be affected.

bud I think you just answered your own question. If it is only your images that are being affected you need to look at the program you are using to import them. It sounds to me like something has been changed in an import preset or you may have selected a different import preset.

Informative. As much as I am attracted to all things new and especially free I think I am going to hold back for a while.

It also sounds like the integration will now be seamless so I really need to be in the right frame of mind and have time set aside to fix problems or, as the younger generation says, fix issues. lol

Thanks again Dngallagher. It makes sense that the move from PSE 9 to 13 would provide significant bang for my buck.

That and LR6 ought to keep me going for the next few years. I guess I am from the old school and like to own things. Plus, I have the funds to make the upgrade purchase now but I may not have funds for the CC subscription in six months.

I really appreciate the time you have spent sharing your thoughts.

Thanks to everyone else who responded.

I'm all the way back at PSE 9. There must be something worth having between there and ver 12. lol I just do not want to get too far behind the power curve.

Thanks for all of your thoughts. I appreciate the input. Right now I am leaning towards the purchase of an upgrade to my existing PSE. I do not recall any intent by Adobe to discontinue it since it fills a need for us lesser photographers.
