PSE Keyboard Shortcuts intermittant

I keep having problems with the kbd shortcuts in PSE. I had hoped that ver 14 would eliminate the problem but not so. You can be working away and they will suddenly no longer work. Then they seem to kick in again and everything is ok for a while. I am on Windows 7. I have looked on the internet but there does not seem to be any definitive solution. Any suggestions?

Sometimes happens in PS CS5.
I hit ESC then the H key and it gets back on track.
Not sure about PSE though.

Regarding work/not work, I have some instances when thing get really slow... something scanning in background. OR,,, sin of a week going by using sleep and not rebooting... ooops not wise.
As a precaution, I need to do ad ware scan as well as antivirus. Back in the "good ol days" with 4 max gig of memory one had to reboot; with 16 gig and fast graphics card with 2 gig... it is easy to skip personal computer hygiene.

Is it a wireless kbd? My son has a wireless kbd, and it sometimes takes a break, or he types too fast for it to keep up.

I think there is a "shortcut" key to a list of shortcuts within the program but I can't remember it. lol
