I just downloaded Lightroom 5.5 via their trial basis and have never used LR before. MY PP experience has been with Picasa 1 & 2 for many years and PSE 10 for about three years.

I'm looking for a Manual recommendation that does not assume prior experience with LR.

Thanks

Jim

I realize you are looking for a printed manual, but http://www.anthonymorganti.com has a very good video tutorial with examples and easy to follow with lots of shortcuts that I haven't seen in the books.

this tutorial is free scroll down. It's of LR4, but it doesn't matter. Start with this http://en.elephorm.com/tuto-lightroom-4-complete-training.html

Look on Amazon under "More buying choices." Since LR5 is the previous version, people will be selling their books cheaply.

Adobe publishes a good book called "Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 5," Classroom in a box. It covers everything.

your're welcome.. forgot to mention that Anthony's videos are free.. He, of course, would like to sell presets.. but he has videos for LR5, then the differences and new features to CC (6). and also a complete Photoshop Tutorial of videos. All free (except his presets).

From where did you download Lightroom 5.5 on a trial basis? The current version is LR6. And the most updated version of LR5 was 5.7.

I just went on Adobe's Trial download page looking for V 5 as I wanted the disc and didn't want to deal with the cloud, and V5.5 was listed. If they had V 5.7, I missed it. When/if I decide to buy I'll uninstall the v 5.5 and buy a 5.0 then upgrade it to the latest version.

I recommend Scott Kelby's Lightroom Book for Digital Photographers.

If you downloaded any software from Adobe you were already "dealing with the cloud" whether you realize it or not.

You might also want to check out the books by Tony Northrup. I don't do books but his books (both ebooks and hard copy) are available and highly rated on Amazon. Either the ebook or hard copy have a generous number of video tutorials included.
