This is a hypothetical challenge for all the financial wizards on UHH. It has to do with the financial situation of a young man having just graduated from college and started his first job.

His current annual financial posture is below. Note that parentheses indicate negative numbers.

$ 26,000 Income
($ 58,000) Expenses - including apt. rent, car payments, utilities like gas, water, electricity, cell phone, internet, Netflix, cable TV, food, entertainment, insurance, medical, etc.
($310,000) College Loan Debt. - yes it was an expensive college
($342,000) TOTAL SHORTFALL from above numbers

If you were his financial advisor, how would you have this young man fix his financial house? Note that filing for bankruptcy is not an option, as College Loan Debt cannot be wiped by bankruptcy. Note that there is an underlying theme or a trick to this financial challenge that will be revealed when enough UHHers have had a chance to respond.

1. Find a better paying job with medical benefits, or additional job to increase annual income.
2. Get rid of the car, Netflex, cable, no entertainment, drop insurance.
3. Get room mates to reduce(share) rent expenses or move back in with parents.
4. Reduce food cost to minimum by not eating out and no fast food.
5. Go to all cash bases (No credit cards).
6. Defer student loan payments as long as possible.

Sorry. That wasn't what I Googled. Funny.

I hated having to enter a password or PIN, and it took a long time to find a way to disable it. The link below offers lots of ideas, but it will take you a while to find one that works.

https://www.google.com/search?q=avoid+password+for+windopws&oq=avoid+password+for+windopws&aqs=edge..69i57j0i30i546l2j0i546l3j69i64.5814j0j9&sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8

Thanks Jerry for the input.
After reading through all of that…..I think I will look for a way to reinstate my PIN login.
It was not too bad, by just entering the PIN, using the number key pad...plus if a thief runs off with my computer he will be locked out.
BTW-The laughter has subsided! For now…...

There is a way to avoid using any login, but it ain't easy! I'm not saying the link below will help, but that's what they say to do.

https://carbidesecure.com/resources/how-to-disable-automatic-login-in-windows-10/

Jerry:
The link you provided covers ‘disabling automatic login’.
At this point(since I am locked out) I am looking for ways to ‘ENABLE auto login’ of my desk-top computer(not a laptop) since I am the only one with access to this computer (I live alone). I see no compelling security reason to have to enter a Microsoft PIN or Password to get my ‘single-user’ computer to bootup.
The laughter I hear is becoming more vociferous!

Here's a weird one. I wanted to use my Acer laptop to print, so I connected the Epson ET-2760. The computer recognized it and said it was ready to go. CTRL-P, and the printer is not listed. When I click on Printers in the Print box, it shows the Epson as "Ready." I shut down, restarted, removed, etc. Same result. Then I connected the Epson 970 - same thing. The printer is "Ready," but it doesn't show up where I choose what printer to use.

Looking in Device Manager, there isn't even a listing for "Imaging Devices."

I wanted to print with the Acer because my current Dell desktop doesn't print, either. I was able to print a PDF with my 2012 MBP, so the printers are okay.

Yes, this is weird. Any and all suggestions accepted. : )

Jerry: You are not the only one with ‘technoitus’.
The power went off while my computer was running.
Now that the power is back on my computer will not accept my log-on PIN.
I think I can hear hushed laughter…..

Driver is the latest.

There is no "Imaging Devices" or "Printers and Scanners" listed in Device Manager.

As I was typing this, I thought I'd try to print again. It said there was a problem, and the Epson Connection Checker would look into it. I had tried that before, and the checker froze indefinitely. Today, it said it found the problem and fixed it. Then it printed. Nothing changed between yesterday and today, but the printer prints. No one can tell me that these things aren't just having fun with us.

I've often wondered about this. Maybe one of you has an answer. People who use a Mac tend to store data on external drives because Apple doesn't make computers with large capacity internal drives. Why don't they?

For $1,699, you get an iMac 24 with 512GB. For $2,200, you get 2TB. Digital storage is cheap and small, so Apple could easily offer much greater storage as standard.

Unfortunately, Dell seems to be following Apple's lead. Their base XPS comes with 512GB for $960. In the past, I've bought a Dell with little storage and added my own larger C and then added a D drive. If you buy a Dell now, you must make sure you can add more drives. The one I'm using now will not accept an optical drive.

I predicted (told my Grandson) several years ago that computers will eventually become ‘bare bones’ to maintain the price and be sold without any (or very little) storage space on board. This will force everyone to pay for cloud storage and /or external drives.
Also, the computers for use in public places will be just a CPU, power supply, RAM, WiFi, keyboard and monitor; with no place for storage. You will need to attach your own special Flash Drive containing the operating system, Browser, the programs you will be using and some storage to be able to use them.
In other words, you will carrying your computer around with you on a Flash Drive that you can plug into any ‘standard bare bones machine’ available everywhere coffee or burgers are sold.

Jerry: There is a BIG difference between a phone/Ipad and a car. Do you think, just maybe, that water sealing has anything to do with this issue. Cars also do not use Lithium Ion batteries. Why not think it through before you post? Novel idea for you, I know.
