It isn't hard to watermark your image before you post it. I think it would depend on limitations of the server and file size.

A few people contacted me about setting up a new section for pictures to be used solely for advice and critique, as opposed to simply showing the photos.

The one problem I see with having two pictures sections is that people would be misplacing their topics. Those who simply want to show off a photo (not necessarily looking for critique) would sometimes post it in the advice section and vice versa.

So without clear guidelines, deciding what should go where and moving misplaced topics would be difficult.

One solution I see is having a restrictive set of rules for the advice section.
Something like:
- Must state the settings used for taking the picture (ISO, aperture, shutter speed, any body presets).
- Must describe the lighting (sources, intensity, locations, weather, etc.).
- Must list the gear (body, lenses, etc.)
- Must ask specific questions about either improving the existing picture in post or about retaking the shot.

Any topic that is placed in the advice section without the required info/questions gets moved into the pictures section.

Such set of rules would probably help with keeping the advice section focused on its intended purpose. But at the same time, I'm not sure what to do abut open-ended posts like "Here is a picture, how can I make it better?"

Any suggestions/opinions are welcome.

I agree that this section is needed, and that most of that information should be included. But I think just naming the section "Critique/Help" would suffice. The title makes it pretty obvious that if you put an image there, it will be critiqued.....and this would make less work for admin.

Thank you....I probably spelled it wrong...lol. I have a terrible case of mommy brain. I was going for something that meant passion or love for.....This is why I take pictures instead of writing! :)

Living in the Pacific Northwest can provide some pretty dramatic skies when the rain gives way to the sunshine on the dark clouds.

See my posts on this thread and if you're still awake and want access to a previous thread on this subject with a lot of good input: http://www.uglyhedgehog.com/t-2122-1.html

The more you shoot, the better you will get. Take all the time you can to get out there and learn all about your camera. See if there is a Cannon 50D for Dummies book. It will explain everything about your camera in plain English and give you little exercises to practice it. Focus on the ISO, shutter speed, and aperture lessons to start with, as well as the controls on your camera. You are good on composition from what I can see. These are all a great start, and like someone stated before, people are asking you to take their pictures, so you have something they like!

I really like the foxtail. Have you tried it in black and white? I think it would glow. Excellent!

Possibly a type of slug? I haven't seen any that are curly like that. We mostly have banana slugs here. That would be my best guess.

These are all good points....and normally things I would do.

I was not the photographer for the wedding, so didn't feel I could get up and move around without disturbing the ceremony.

This is the actual kiss from the ceremony so there was no control over their position or the sun.

I was in the back row, so flash would not have helped.

Hoping someone out there know about a Photoshop technique I have overlooked.
