You're right, Jason - none of the original post made any sense at all to me

I doubt many people can associate Bridgeport, Connecticut with milling machines; so don't be surprised by the low number of responses.

........ The area where I live now actually averages more snow than they do there

I used to live in Bremen so I am well aware of the lake effect snows. I was driving back and forth from Bremen to Elkhart General Hospital in '76 and '77 - there were blizzards in mid-late January each year when I was doing that. I got a job at Columbus Regional Hospital and moved south about 180 miles - away from the lake effect snows and honestly, I miss it. This year is has snowed 3 times this year and only one time did it "stick" to the ground and that was less than 2 inches.

I have an ATV with a snow blade and a tractor with a grader blade - these are my snow machines and I've been disappointed this year that I haven't been able to use them.

My brother still lives in South Bend and he doesn't have the same opinion of snow that I do! LOL

...... and me. I love it - believe it or not, my wife hates it. She likes to sit in the living room and drink coffee with it being light outside before she goes to work. I like it being light in the evening when we have time to do something outside when not at work.

My least favorite time of the year is that month or so when it is dark before you even get home from work. Of course, I no longer have that problem - I retired last October.

My "boy" ran for about 45 minutes and he is about to go to sleep. He is an English Springer and he is my shadow - I think he is enjoying my retirement as much as I am!

If you look at the exif data the date created is not correct - I just got my camera back from Nikon and the date was reset to it's release date (2014) - it was actually a week or so ago.

What I found interesting, and learned something for myself, was what a difference there was when you changed your viewing angle from #2 to #3. #3 looks kind of ordinary with a bridge cutting across the frame while #2 is a nice example of a leading line. I do agree with a previous comment that #3 does extend the leading line further into the frame. #2 is easier for me to look at - completely subjective on my part - I just like it better.

It made me realize I probably don't take enough different pictures when I am shooting a particular scene.

I think there are a couple of places I need to go back to and re-shoot!

Thanks!

Here is a link to an article about him, his past, and some of the tragedies he has faced. The "museum" in this picture is only part of what is on his property - he has a military museum in a building "the size of a Walmart".

Amazing story - very unique individual.

Good subject. The colours are a bit strong for my liking, especially orange.

I give up, I've tried a half a dozen times to upload a toned down version and I'm stuck in a loop that doesn't post the picture and now the website software won't even allow me to edit my own post. So, just imagine it less orange ..... that's the best I can do at this point.

First one I've seen, where does he hang out?

This was outside of a camera store in La Lolla, CA. I was hot and tired when we were walking by there and I didn't even go inside - given the price of everything else in La Jolla I probably was better off not going in.

I would like to have this guy at my house! I was on vacation a couple of weeks ago and took this with my iPhone 6 and have messed with it in Lightroom and maybe a little bit in DXO Optics Pro (I think .....).

Very nice! #3 is my favorite - I keep looking at it - I think what is drawing me to it is that it is an interesting, well done photo of something that otherwise would not be interesting or noticed. It reminds me that I don't do a very good job of finding things in my everyday life to photograph. It just shows me I'm making things too difficult.

I enjoy wildlife and landscape, so photography for me is a way to keep my old body and mind sharp and in shape. It is a way to wear myself out, yet keep me calm and at peace. It is a way to challenge my mind and body to find the beauty in the world we live in, and a way to understand how to share this world with all that walks, crawls, and flies in this world, as well as all that grows to make this place we call home beautiful.

You 'wrote' almost exactly that which describes what photography is to me!
