The Duplicate command in Bridge works the same as in Photoshop, so always duplicate from the first (original after editing) as my previous post.

You will not see a quality loss.

Would you be losing quality if you use "save as" to make copy 2, copy 3, etc, instead of duplicate? But still go back to the original to make the "save as"?

I have that automatic switch also on my Sony A77 ... love it! These a6000 photos are amazingly sharp. Like your compositions too. I think I see an a6000 in my future! I really like what I've seen so far.

Hi Gypsy02, I am probably too late but I thought I'd give it go anyway. Hope you like it. I thought the best way to handle the background was to get rid of it but I thought a solid colour was too stark. I also think a close crop is better for accentuating her beauty. She is a lovely looking girl and you are very proud grand mother.

Thank you ..... great job! The background does soften the photo and compliments the colors. You're right .... I'm a pretty proud grandmother!

Here's my take on it . . .

Thank you! Nice job on extending the shoulder area and putting in the blue background. Looks good with that color. Also like including the hand and hair.

Late arrival: I botched the hair sooooo bad. I need to find out how to use the weapons I have to get a good selection. Using PS CC 2014, but obviously I don't have a good grasp on selecting hair.

Well, I have to kinda agree with you that the hair could be improved - maybe it's not that sooooo bad. But I liked the background and the way you handled eliminating the items along the bottom edge. I never would have thought of that. Thank you!

Sure, here's a view of the layer stack with layer labels that should help explain the process.

The Portrait Pro Plug-in (which I really like) was used to enhance eyes, teeth, hair, and lighting (the lighting controls are one of my favorite features in this program). The eye & teeth adjustments had to be scaled back since the defaults are too aggressive. No sculpting or smoothing was needed with the base image I used. After returning to Photoshop, the P-Pro results had to be scaled back again to keep the image from appearing over-processed.
Sure, here's a view of the layer stack with layer ... (show quote)

Thank you for posting this. I'll have to look into that plug-in. You did a great job with all these adjustments and not being aggressive or artificial. You have a good eye!

Thank you all for taking your time and sharing your talents! Like them all!!! For some reason, I liked this photo and also kinda liked the hair in hand but couldn't decide to keep or crop close. Seems majority here like the close crop. And most kept in a little of the background Christmas lights. Seeing what others do to make a photo improvement via pp is my favorite part of this entire forum - a lot of talent and skill through different visions. I think this photo of Katie will end up being printed and put in the family album - Mom & Dad will probably enjoy a copy of it too! Thanks everyone for offering your opinions! Greatly appreciated!

You're right. Beauty marks returned. :)

Yes, I agree too. The beauty marks are the person. Very nice edit, Rick. Have you applied re-touch to the eyes and teeth also? Would you mind sharing a little of what you have done in your editing? Thanks! Marilyn

Yes, I have been to their website twice and filled out the slip. Good luck and I would be interested to know if you can get yours updated, since my problem sounded just like yours and the technician said I had to get a new card. Please let me know the outcome.
Thanks..Marsha

Our conversations were three weeks ago - I was wondering if you had your problems fixed. I had contacted Topaz Help and although replies were slow, I did receive email from them with suggestions. None of the suggestions works so I had a computer guy come and had a new graphics card installed. It still was not working via the program, but only on the desktop. I just did a re-boot and I think the problem is now solved and everything is working. I haven't played with the new program much at all yet - I hope it is worth all the time, frustration, and extra money spent. Hope your problems are also solved.

I really kinda like this shot of my granddaughter and would like to make it into a nicer portrait type photo. I'm not really familiar with "the portrait rules" about how much to crop, how much of hands to show, take out background Christmas lights, fill in shoulder or crop out, etc. Wondering if any of you might show me what you would do with this. There is no pp applied to the photo yet. Thanks in advance for any attempts!

Thank you for all your comments and suggestions. Before trying to re-install, I tried the reboot and .... whoola, it's working! Haven't had much opportunity to play with the program yet, but it sure looks different than the previous Topaz programs I have and enjoy. Sure hope this one was worth all the time, frustration, and extra $$$ spent! Thanks again!

Long story short - I purchased Topaz Impression and then couldn't install it due to the graphics card. After a lot of effort and time to update, it turned out that I needed to get a new graphics card which I purchased. New graphics card is now installed and Impressions shows up in my PSE 12 list of plug ins, however it now will not open. Impressions also loaded to my desktop and it will open there outside of PSE. I didn't think any Topaz programs opened ouutside of a another program. Any ideas of how to get it to open in the plug in list as the other Topaz programs do? Or any ideas why it will not open. I also loaded it in a new laptop and everything works as expected there - just not on my desktop computer. Thanks in advance!

If you already have CS6 and don't want to spend $$$, then keep on working on learning that. Photoshop Elements is much easier to learn, but I guess doesn't have everything the pros want. I've been using PSE for many years and I love it! Fun to learn and fun to use. Does most everything without spending big bucks for Photoshop - or now being tied into a monthly bill. I prefer to own my program but that's just me. Just my opinion.
